Cal State U: Hey, we can’t afford to accept grad students from California!

• I have always objected to a non citizen getting a place in an American public college or university. Seems to me those whould be given to eligible AMerican students first. If there are still spots left over, review applications form Non Citizens for eligibility to attend. Private schools can do what they want with their money, I suppose.

• I earned a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering & an MBA from Cal Poly SLO for an incredible price as a California Resident. Luckily that was 10 years ago!!! Looks like I would be SOL now! Way to go Sacramento! Better yet way to go libitards in Cali that keep voting these D-bag s in to office!!!

• So -- they don't like it that people are coming in from other jurisdictions and taking away benefits that natives of their own jurisdiction might otherwise benefit from. Hmm, does that sound ironically like another problem they have in California?

• I don't get it ... why would you need to raise taxes to pay for education when you have an $11 Billion surplus? (Oh - you mean California is going into debt to pay for a medium speed rail system no one wants????)

  Folks - lets agree that the leadership in the Golden State does NOT know how to prioritize and that the government will ALWAYS want to raise taxes.

  Fist we need to agree on the appropriate level of taxation, then we can start talking about which programs we want. If we constantly talk about which programs we want, then we can always add another tax!

• It appears that all those good liberal tax payers in CA is paying off. Now they cant attend an in state university so that university can bring in students who can pay a higher rate. What a state.

• Government planning destroys another educational institute with their lack of understanding socialism. I guess they never don't understand the definition of stupid is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different results. Socialism will never work.

    I agree, for this reason: As I understand socialism, at its core it denies God, i.e. The Creator, Author and Finisher of our Faith Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, Triune, ergo: according to my lights, regardless of the labels one might splatter on socialism to make it look pretty, it remains the same, and in my considered opinion, and without malicious rancor towards the kenyan in the WH for now, save that which every Freedom Loving American ought to feel towards a lying cheating sad excuse for a leader i've seen in a LONG time, that he doesn't acknowledge the God I do, regardless what he says. At least w/Romney there's no equivocation about the differences in belief between Christians and Mormons. obama's beliefs are, again imo, amorphous at best.

    • Social justice is a very Christian activity. As Jesus told his folowers to take only a their clothing they wre and go out to begin their missionary work. In the early church, everything was held in common and distributed according to need. That is whyy many CHristians believe this is a Christ ordered way of life. It fell apart as the church grew larger, and it will fall apart all down the line because PEOPLE are greedy and selfish. They don't want just what they need, or even a little over what they need. The want more and more and more. And don't be fooled. Mormons use the same worrds as CHristians, but they dont MEAN the same in their context. Still for the most part they don't try and force you to convert, so I'm ok with that.

    • Think I'd have to disagree to a certain extent -- I don't think that there is anything inherently in socialism which demands atheism, and I do think there are any number of socialist-minded people out there who are Christian and believe that their faith leads them to a socialist world-view (misguided as we think that to be.) No, I don't agree that socialism "at its core" denies God, at its core it simply subordinates the individual to society. What you say is true of full-blown Communism; for that matter it is true of Rand-ite Objectivism. And, for that matter, any number of the Founding Fathers who gave us the Declaration and Constitution would not pass muster as "Christian" by most modern "Evangelicals."

        with this in mind, Since one may say Jesus promoted social responsibility to the poor, widows, orphans, then The care of these ppl is a spiritual matter and not in the government's purview so much as in that of those who desire to follow their LORD.

        That being said, if Christian society has a mandate from above to look to the needs of the needy, then it necessarily follows that the morality of the society MUST be examined on more than just care for the needy.
        That's my thinking. muddled tho it may be.

        • That would be why churches took care of those groups, right up until the time government (Roosevelt) thought they were God, and took it over. Creating the leviathan that it now has become. Inefficiently redistrubiting the wealth of the working people to those who don't appreciate what they get. There is now an entitlement mentality among the poor, where they think they are owed a living and more, just because they don't feel like breaking a sweat if they're not procreating.

        • There are also plenty of Atheists and Agnostics who are NOT socialists or communists. We see the teachings of the Bible, and think of it as just common sense. At least as it applies to welfare, and taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves.

• Without a Cal State degree, young Americans might actually stand a chance to learn something. This is truly good news.
