California health care on suicide watch

• I've got a neighbor here in the RV Park, he's an elderly gentleman, but active, seemingly in very good shape, goes to the home every day to visit his wife who is dying of Alzheimer's. She just recently got to the point of not knowing who he is, and it's a heartbreaker.

  Now, he finds out he's got cancer. I haven't spoken to him about enough to get all the details, but I do know his insurance isn't getting the job done for him. He has a deductible of nearly $5000, and a copay for the blood work he needs done is $500.

  My lady and I have considered putting together and promoting a crowdfunding page to help him get the bloodwork, but he still wouldn't be able to pay the yearly deductible to start treatment.

  We're talking to some friends that are in the insurance business, to see what can be done for this guy, but I fear he's up against Obamacare's death panels. He's just too old to spend a bunch of money saving his life, as far as they're concerned. Any ideas?

  • Put up a crowd funding page with a picture of a cat, call it Fluffy and say you need money for a cancer operation for poor Fluffy. The cat ladies and libtards will be coughing up bucks by the thousands.

    • That will work better than the truth. I put up a crowdfunding page to help out someone before Christmas, and all I got was $20. I came out of pocket for over $500 to get the job done.

      • We've got some friends that know more about getting cancer treated than we do, and they're working to hook up our neighbor with one of the hospitals over the hill in Los Angeles that treats cancer without cost to the patient. In which case, I will work on doing a charity function for that hospital, and put up a crowdfunding page to help him with expenses to drive over the Grapevine for his treatments. This old guy is truly a good person, one worth saving.

        Also, turns out it's prostate cancer, and he needs the bloodwork to determine if it's the aggressive kind that will kill him in a few years, or if it's the ordinary one that takes ten years. Many men don't bother treating the ordinary strain, since they only have about that long to live anyway. The treatment is so bad, it's better to let it run it's course. This is what I've heard anyway, maybe things have changed. I just feel bad for the guy, and want to help in any way I can.

    This is going to become the norm instead of the exception. Remember it was Sarah Palin who pointed out the death panels. She was ridiculed for it by the left and some on the right.
