California school union to parents: Stop volunteering! Parents volunteer to raise funds and hire PT teachers’ aides, who mostly come from ranks of parents themselves. The union wants the parents to fundraise, but send the money to the school district which will hire union employees to fill the part-time positions. Maybe what California taxpayers need is a union of their own to stand up for them – the pols have no interest whatsoever in doing so.

In my entire working career, I have never seen any union interested in their membership or the businesses they were involved with. Their entire focus was on their own ability to maintain their power and make money off the work of others, while they sashay and prance around without any conscience or responsibility.
It;s not the union jobs, it lets parents see what kind of shit kids are taught by these educators....I once had a argument with my son's teacher over her use of the term .."United States of Mexico" since she claimed we stole America from her relatives in Mexico....A lot of these teachers are agenda driven and feel they "must" Indoctrinate the little ones with their bullshit. Having parents in the room interferes with their plans.
Wow. Did she say anything about how the Spaniards conducted the rape of Mexico a couple hundred years before the U.S. was formed, oddly, decades before Mexico was even named Mexico?

For unions, it's not about labor vs management, it's really about labor vs labor.
As for what CO2Insanity said, he's dead on. Force the public schools to compete for the students & their money. Their is real reason for the public school teachers to be better because they are safe in their possition. Until they do, public schools will continue on it's downward spiral.
