Considering their track record for finding weapons in security check tests, I think I would be better off carrying a pistol on the flight. Chances are that they won't find it, and at least someone on my flight would be armed and able to stop an attack.
Another government agency that couldn't find a forest fire in Central Park. But you can bet your ass they'll find their bonus checks at the end of the fiscal year.
TSA...Thumb Sucking Assholes. Equal opportunity laws guarantee TSA workers are the bottom of the barrel, people who have to work for the gooberment because nobody else will hire them.
This is where the people who can't get a job as a security guard at the mall end up working....

[edit] sorry about that, let's try this; same thing but much shorter http://tinyurl.com/qghdvku
Yep. They can't even get a job at Mickey D's flipping burgers.
Paul Blart, TSA Agent?
This kind of long, sorry.
TSA is in full panic mode because of the Russian airliner that was probably bombed out of the sky after leaving Egypt the other day. This was likely conducted by one of the hundreds of people that have unlimited access to aircraft while they are on the ground. There are so many gaping holes in airport security that it is nothing short of a miracle that we haven't had this happen in the US. Anyhow, they are in full alert mode and conducting random squeezes on those of us working at the airport. Here's what happened to me last week.
I got a called out for a power issue with one of our planes that was scheduled outbound this AM. I walked through the jetway door from the ramp and walked past three TSA agents. I went into the cockpit, resolved the power problem and was then stopped by the three TSA folks as I tried to leave the jetway. They asked me to empty my pockets and place the contents on the clipboard on them was holding. All I had in my pocket was a 5 inch lock blade. They didn't even blink as I clunked it down on his clipboard and then advised me they were going to pat me down as part of their random security checks. I initially refused and they called their boss and advised me that I would be fined. Soooo, I let them feel me up until they decided I had nothing hidden in my pants or under my shirt. It's worth noting that they did not touch my crotch, so I guess I know where to hide the nuke next time. They gave me back my knife and said thank you.
I asked them to clarify what their purpose was by conducting these random pat downs. They were looking for weapons and explosives was the response . Soooo, I asked them why they didn't confiscate my knife and throw me in jail. They asked if I needed the knife to do my job, to which I replied yes. So, they said it was ok. To which I again asked them why they searched me for weapons if they were going to allow me to carry one. The response this time was that it is part of TSAs security initiative. So I asked what was the objective of the directive. They responded by telling me they are looking or weapons. You see where this is going, right?
So, last week I was allowed to walk past TSA agents, say hello to and discuss the power issue with the flight attendants (pass them hand grenades?), access the cockpit (install a bomb) and then, after I've had the opportunity to contaminate their "sterile area" and am leaving the scene of a potential crime, do they search me. Find a weapon. Then let me walk away, still in the "sterile area" with the weapon still in my pocket. They did call my boss and tell him that I was being difficult. They told him they wouldn't proceed with the matter, but that they would prosecute if I was difficult in the future.
Enjoy your upcoming flights knowing the TSA is on the job and in control... of my shorts.
From now on, I travel by cruise ship.
Might make it a little difficult if I want to go from Nebraska to Wyoming, but I will find a way.
You ever heard of a car and an interstate? (snicker)
You'd think the morons would search you on the way in not after you possibly could have hidden a device or firearm. Nitwits.
Exactly. They should have shut down the flight and conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and flight crew. Especially after they found a weapon on me.
Bottom line is TSA is window dressing. They keep the cattle from boarding flights with pointy objects, cig lighters and bottled water from home! To their credit, they do that considerably better than previous airport security contractors. Unfortunately, I estimate that where I work, they have secured about about 20 percent of the facility and operation. Giving them 20% is being generous on my part.
TSA? You mean the Groper Group? "All right grandma, drop your drawers, I know you have a copy of the constitution in there, we already found your tweezers!"
I have as much faith in the TSA doing a good job as I do in Bwarney Frank finding a woman attractive.....
I bet he has the hots for Kaitlin Jenner.
The TSA mission, established by Mineta in the GWB administration, is to avoid singling out young muslim males from terror-producing Islamic states for scrutiny so as not to appear judgemental about Islam. With that mission statement, no, they cannot effectively do their jobs.
I'll say it again. If we want an effective airport screening process, we need to adopt the Israeli screening procedures.
