How do you say “uh-oh” in Spanish? Cuban President Raúl Castro has warned his island nation that it’s running out of time. If they don’t change their economic system soon, it’s going to be adios, amigos.

In a two-hour speech, Raúl Castro emphasized that the initiatives introduced regarding the Cuban economy do not mean the end of the ideals of the revolution to create an equal society, but rather to strengthen, not replace, socialism.
The Cuban leader stressed the need for the country and its leaders to correct mistakes because, otherwise, the Revolution and efforts made by many generations will collapse. Raul Castro said: ¨We are already running out of time. If we don´t change things now, we will bring about the collapse (…) of efforts by many generations.”
The workers paradise is going to lay off 500,000 workers by April and is may cut as many as 800,000 jobs over the next three years. And even worse, the Associated Press reports that Castro says the gravy train is leaving the station.
He also warned his countrymen that they’ll have to work in the new Cuba, and can no longer rely on the state for handouts.
“Many of us Cubans confuse socialism with freebies and subsidies, and equality with egalitarianism,” the president said.

Raul is a murderous POS, just like Fidel and Che. Both the Castro brothers deserve a bullet between the eyes.

Uhm... well I have CLEARLY misunderstood socialism ALL these years... It seems now that we are going to see the REAL socialism, the one where people work and there is competition in the marketplace for the things that people want without heavy government intervention... wait a minute...
At least Obama is taking us to the original kind of socialism, not this hardworking competitive nonsense that Mr. Castro seems to be pushing.

I didn't know if I'd live long enough to hear one of the Castros say what Raul just did, but he's still all that about socialism. So what's changed? So they're going to make cubans work now...and what? They still don't have anything to give them...Cuba's still a loser shithole because this is what happens when pearls (ie. Cuba) are thrown before swine (ie. athiestic marxist socialist revolutionaries).
He must be getting old. Usually the way that commies correct "mistakes" is with bullets, but starvation also seems to work well for them.
