To Progressives, reducing the number of Americans working, and increasing the number of Americans on the dole, is a prime goal.
Exactly... if one researches the labor participation rate one finds that that number has been on a steady decline since the beginning of the recession- continuing throughout the "recovery". Cooking the unemployment stats to come up with U3 permits an illusion to be created that people are going back to work- and the criminally complicit media does report it that way for the most part- but we are in fact at the lowest participation rate since the late 70's- during Carter's recession and those good ol' days of stagflation.
Just an aside, but the 1 year waiver time-bomb that everybody in the media refuses to acknowledge is ticking down. Why little stories are starting to bleed in, like "unions outraged at new rules". Spent 4 or 5 minutes just now on a cursory search (oh, the .gov sites bury this stuff!) and the #s are staggering.
