Charlie Rangel: What’s the big deal? At least Weiner “didn’t go with prostitutes or little boys”

Unlike rational members of Congress, Charlie Rangel seems intent on injecting himself into the Anthony Weiner story. Last week the elder statesman of disgraced Congressmen offered Weiner some advice: Shut up. This week he comes to his defense in a tortured sort of way.

Democrat corruption comes in a variety of styles and colors

The Associated Press offers up Rangel’s latest idiocy:

U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel told reporters Friday that he still believes Weiner can be an effective lawmaker, “if the press gets off his back.”

He suggested that other members of Congress had done things more immoral than Weiner, who admitted this week to sending racy messages and explicit photographs of himself to women he didn’t know.

Rangel says Weiner, “wasn’t going with prostitutes. He wasn’t going out with little boys.”

Thanks to Congressman Rangel, we now know what sort of behavior the Democrats consider unacceptable. At least until the first Democrat in Congress is caught with a prostitute or a little boy.

  • A thief and tax dodger giving advice to a pervert, I'm only surprised that Bill Clinton hasn't put in his two cents. If you don't fear for the future of the United States you haven't been paying attention.

    • Since Bill officiated at this moron's wedding, and "considers him like a son" he is probably proud beyond belief.

  • Going to Charlie Rangel for ethics advice is like going to a celibate priest for marriage advice...

    Oh, wait...

  • And if he had "gone with hookers or little boys," people would STILL be making excuses for him.

  • Ethical relativism. So, according to Rangle and the rest of the democats, what would constitute being unethical or deviant behaviour? Sounds like the reasoning of an addict himself. Well I may be a blue collar criminal myself but at least I didn't kill anyone.

    • "So, according to Rangle and the rest of the democats, what would constitute being unethical or deviant behaviour? "

      Being a Republican.

    • I can't. Liberals get a pass even for murder because they generally do not claim to be good people. Since they do not claim to be good people, when it is proven they aren't good people, no one should judge them anyway. It works for their advantage to have no standards, that way they can move the standards up or down when it is politically expedient or they can claim to be in different and opposites positions one day to the next whenever it is convenient in order to get whatever they want. It is insanity. I don't know how a human being can live like that.

    • Or if you prefer:

“...down the yellow brick road of good intentions, straight...
“To see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of OZ”.

Yea, about Rangel, he’s the ‘Tin Strawman’, He needs both a ‘Brain’ and a ‘Heart’.

    • Oh! they have standards, as in, flags and banners, with which they are leading the shepple down the road of good intentions, straight to hell.

  • Maybe Congress could put together a 5 star committee, with laser focus, to come up with the things that are and are not acceptable for a congress person or senator to do. They could give each infraction a point value. You start off you term with a set number of points, say 100. Send pictures of you junk is a 5 point deduction. Diddling little boys is a 20 point deduction, and so on. When you are out of points, you are out of office.

Until, they figure out how to raise the ceiling on points,
