  • Is this like Mars Attacks, should we git out the Slim Whitman records? Make the little Chinaman's head explode?

  • It looks like Big Brother may not be the only one watching us. The world is getting too complicated, I don't think anyone really knows what all the computer systems in the world are doing and they keep adding more and more security on top of other security that doesn't work in the first place.

    This kind of crap is why I don't do much online. I don't pay bills, I don't bank, I don't buy stuff, I don't have a smart phone or an Ipad, all I do online is read the news sites and piss people off on the blog sites. (snicker)

  • I watch Norse all the time (and we have a much higher resolution paid product at work in our Security Operations Center) It's fun to watch.

  • Kind of odd that they're mostly focused on St. Louis unless it's because there is a branch of The Fed there. Alternatively, maybe some Chinese bookies are big Astros fans and are pissed at The St. Louis Cardinals hacking the Astros' team database.

    Bottom line though, shit looks like it might be getting real. Buckle your seat belts.

      • Just a thought miss Kimmy, but you may want to look into the military.
        Air farce, er, force or Navy. See what they are willing to offer in the way of tech, a few years of your life for some training, take some online courses, or if you can get a stable duty station, a local community college,
        and a G.I. bill to go to a college when you get out.

        If tech is your thing, the chances are good you will never be sent into a "hot zone", and would pretty much work in an office environment.

        DAMN, I wish I was this smart many years ago when I served.
        I would be much better off now.

        • Tuition Assistance and free CLEPS are the way to go until one separates. I used both for my first degree. Am paying out of pocket until I retire next year. Then I will use my GI Bill.

        • CTN (Cyber) even offers automatic E4 up to 15 months out of Bootcamp (less if you have college) for a 6 year contract. You'd get training and certifications you'd have to pay $10's of thousands for yourself. If I was staying in any longer, I'd try to get a cyber billet for my next PCS.

        • Tech is not really my thing. Thanks for the idea though. It does look like an interesting field.

      • YES! Average salary is $80-100k and rising. Top salaries can be upwards of $150k, especially if you have a security clearance. And if you go to a school with an NSA/DHS program of excellence, there's scholarships. FBI told me with that degree and some experience, I could write my own ticket.

  • This happening at the same time that technical glitches halt NYSE trading as well as United Airlines are grounded because of a technical issue- coincidence?

    • Yeah, I couldn't login earlier today to view my paycheck. I'm pretty sure UAL has been getting probed for about 6-8 months now. Our IT dept. went proactive and has installed all kinds of new login procedures. To access some content, we must login at least twice and some content even requires three logins. And like everything else at United... our IT team has failed.
