Chris Matthews faces the future: “After this election, the Democrat party will only exist on the two coasts”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews is, in horrible jerks and starts, coming to terms with the mortality of the Democratic majority.

One day he’s giving the Republicans, conservatives and the Tea Party hell. The next day, he’s realistic about what the political landscape is going to look like on Wednesday, November 3.

This time it was the latter. And we don’t feel at all bad about taking pleasure in his pain.

  • Just what they deserve. The vast majority of the country lies somewhere ELSE than the east and west coasts. Maybe they should have paid more attention to the "fly over" states. Lordy, I hate that term!

  • I pray for the day when Matthews will be doing his show from the north coast of Cuba, where he can describe Castro's long winded speeches with tingles up his leg.

  • Wow... A Chris Mathews without a leg-tingle would be like a day without sunshine.

    Vote often! Democrats do!

  • In a few more election cycles the democratic party will only exist in the only places it belongs: Inner city ghettos and areas already conquered by Mexico in all but name.

A fat honkey like Chris won't even be welcome there, though.

    • I'd like to agree, but I'm reminded of the Democrats' premature announcement of the death of the Republican Party.

If the Republicans govern by conservative principles, you are probably right. The problem is, we've never yet seen a Republican majority govern by conservative principles. We'll see if this batch of them can.

      • Good point. I'm not holding my breath. After all there's till plenty of food and energy at reasonable prices.

Chances are we'll oscillate between the two parties for a few more years, each time hearing the same promises, until unfunded liabilities called medicare and SS kill us.
