Race is everything to the left. And that leaves poor, confused Chris Matthews completely incapable of comprehending how those racist voters in South Carolina can possibly support Indian-American Republican Nikki Haley while rejecting black-white Barack Obama.
“How do you figure your state out?” Matthews asked Rep. Bob Inglis. “It’s pretty conservative obviously. It’s Strom Thurmond country in many ways and, and it has people like DeMint pretty far over and then people like Lindsey Graham who are sort of regular conservatives. But then you nominated, your party has nominated an Indian-American woman, Nikki Haley. Obviously an attractive candidate, she knows how to present herself obviously, but what’s that about? Is that just an interesting little aspect? “It’s okay to be Indian-American but we got a problem with this black president?” What’s that about?”

Deb, it's nice though that usually the Conservative candidate is a much better looking human than the liberal. Some of that is liberals always have an angry look on thier face, must have something to do with looking at that ugly face in the mirror, while the conservatives are usually happy.

I suppose that the idea Nikki is a great candidate is beond Mattherw's peanut brained comprehension. Louisiana has an Indian American Governor. WHy should this candidate be any different? SHe is going to win or lose based on whether peopl ebelieve she is a viabe candidate who can offer something to her constituents. You know, like Representation? And by the bye, I am not in the habit of choosing candidates based on their physical beauty (or not) nor on the bearing . That is just outside wrapping.

Why Chris Matthews still anchors a TV show is beyond me. The Obama "fluffers" at MSNBC are in the bottom of the Cable News ratings....why do we care what they think?

There are a lot of assumptions and fallacies in his statement. Southerns are racists, conservatives are racists and Republicans are racists.
Once all those assumptions are ingrained in his mind it is a shock to the system to see that Southerners, Conservatives and Republicans WOULD vote for a person that is "not white" SINCE they (being racists) REJECT so fiercely BLACK President Obama.
The problem here is that he doesn't want to REALIZE that it is not a rejection of Obama BECAUSE he is Black. People (en masse) reject him because he sucks. This idiot Matthews wants to believe that it is the people's fault that Obama is being rejected not that it is Obama and his policies. He is an idiot of the worst kind.
He is also a real racist. He gives NO CREDIT to the fact that perhaps the Indian American candidate has the BEST of the policies out there... That she is the best person for the job at this point in time... no he just says that she is attractive and present herself well. WTH? So not only in his view are Southerners, Republicans and Conservatives racists, but they are SELECTIVE in their racism (ha?) AND are DUMB because they just chose WHOMEVER looks attractive and presents themselves well. Even if that whomever is a non-white but that doesn't discredit the fact that they are still racist...
