Liberals, especially those on MSNBC, constantly say conservatives are racists. Yet now we have another example of an MSNBC host who can’t tell one black man from another.
Last year, there was the incident where Contessa Brewer couldn’t tell Jesse Jackson from Al Shaprton. And now Chris Matthews has exhibited the same sort of racism (at least that’s what they’d call it if a conservative did it).
The Hardball host got a bit confused. While introducing Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Matthews called him “Congressman Clyburn,” thinking he was James Clyburn (D-SC).
You know what? We’re going to cut Matthews some slack here and say this wasn’t racism. Instead of thinking all black people look alike, he may just think all Democrats look alike.

I get so tired of this nonsense, African-American, Mexican-American, Irish-American, hyphenated what ever you want to call it American. It's all a bunch of crap spewed out of the mouths of people who are ashamed to call themselves what they are, Americans. All of us are "people of color", the only difference is how light or dark the color of our skin is. Racisism is alive and going strong in our country or discussions like this would not be happening. I never look at a man or woman and think "black", "hispanic", "oriental", "white", none of that kind of crap, I look at the person. If I go into the local market and see some yahoo sagging, his pants down around his hips with his Fruit-of-the-Looms hanging out, I don't think "black", "hispanic", "white", or "oriental", I think STUPID LOOKING! When Americans start thinking like Americans again, without all this hyphenated nonsense, maybe we can get back to the business of being just that, Americans. Mistaken identity is hardly evidence of racism. For that matter, merely thinking that all black people look alike isn't racism either. Racism is discrimination based on racial characteristics. If you think all blacks ARE alike, and inherently inferior, that's racism. Know what you're talking about before you open your ignorant yap. The thing is that these attitudes is one of the many reasons why black americans (and other minorities) would rather be caged under the liberal/democrat rule... at least there is a feeling of acceptance (even if in reality it is not true). I am not saying this person needs to be PC, but at least this person needs to stop being so general and crass and show that conservatives and the like are better than the liberals. It is to say the least dissapointing and it only takes one person like this to make a person think twice about leaving the known to the unknown. Thankfully I know better, but another person looking for answers would shrink in the face of such nastiness and how does that help our cause?
It's frustrating to me, too. We as conservatives can't afford to drive away other conservatives, even if there are things about them that are different -- whether that be melanin content, culture, economic status, or whatever. The crisis our nation is in demands nothing less than 100% participation from everybody that understands the problem.
There are all too many people on the left only too happy to blow racism on the right far more out of proportion than they do their own racism.
One thing to remember is that the internet is the big equalizer. People have no idea about the color of my skin, my accent, my background or anything else about me other than what I say. The political group that understands this better and takes full advantage of it will step away from the thought-prison of their own biases and will basically rule the political landscape for years to come. There is something powerful about making common cause with other groups of people in times of crisis -- that is when our culture as a nation makes leaps, rather than slow, gradual change.
The core values of family, decency, and country are universal amongst the best people of this nation. None should be turned away if they fit that description, while if they are seeking to perpetuate the bias and injustice they left behind, but with themselves in the position of power, (as are several prominent members of the CBC), then no prison is disgusting enough to hold them. It's not a skin color thing -- it's an American thing.
I agree I just think that we must have moderation and wisdom in our "speech" even if it is written to make sure that our speech doesn't hurt our cause. If one is a conservative in a lot of areas but has prejudices it can unfortunately hurt us and keep people away that could make a difference and they stay away because of the prejudice EVEN if they both share core values. It is important to be responsible in our speech. That is all that I am saying.
