Chris Rock: “Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren’t free but I’m sure they enjoyed fireworks.” No Mr. Rock that wasn’t fireworks on the first Independence Day. That was gunpowder and the sacrifice of those laying down their lives to purchase freedom. Four score and some years later another 600,000 Americans laid down their lives in the conflict to help set right what the founders got wrong. And it is unfortunate that you cannot appreciate the efforts of those that did far more to end the slavery of their times than you are willing to do in order to confront that which exists in ours.

Oh, the heavy cross of suffering borne by black millionaires in racist America with a black president. After the 2010 NFL season, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson called the NFL a form of "modern-day slavery". Peterson earned 10.2 million dollars during the 2010 season. How many current slaves in Africa do you think he, Rock, Oprah, Will Smith, the Obamas and on and on could free with their personal wealth?

If pro sports is modern day slavery, why the hell do so many people aspire to become professional atheletes? I mean, why would you want the glamour, the fortune, & fame that goes along with it?
If that's the case, perhaps these sports stars, men and women, would like to have their freedom, and we will keep the money, if a grossly over inflated paycheck makes them angry, we should immediately stop paying them, then they can be free to pursue whatever they wish, instead of say 10 million a year, perhaps Chris would like 60 acres and a mule?
Atheletes do want their freedom. How many world class atheletes defected from communist nations back in the day? More then a few hockey stars, tennis stars, & Olympic atheletes. Today, what you might see is a Cuban All Star team comes to America for a few games, & a couple of their guys always make a run for it, jumping a fence & into a waiting car to freedom.

Funny thing about all those blacks whining about slavery. There are more black slaves today than at any time in history. There are 30 million black slaves in the Middle East and Africa today, but you don't hear the NAACP, ACLU, or any of the race card pimps mentioning it. They will whine about slavery 10 generations ago, but not a word about it going on today, especially in the Middle East. How typical, because there is no one they can shake down!

Jim Crowe laws where removed in the 1960s. It took the white conservative republicans to do this. The democrats of the old south wouldnt go anywhere near the laws passed by Kennedy and Johnson. So the next Rock wishes to bash white people he needs to talk to his dim wit buddies. The same ones that are throwing crumbs off the table to blacks and other minorities.
Yet again, people like Rock can't bring themselves to admit that they've been played for fools, been used and thrown away like useful idiots.

But he did help (inadvertently) remind the whole world that it took a Republican president to break the shackles of his ancestors, leading to his eventual success.
Tangentially, I learned that Anthony Johnson was the 1st slave owner in America. He himself was brought to this continent from Angola as an indentured servant, which was the norm of the time - definitely not good, but there was light at the end of a fairly long tunnel.
He served his time and was granted his freedom, acquired land and serfvants - but when the time came to release one, he declined, was taken to court by the servant, and won his case - making John Casor the first slave for life:
