The parents of Christina Green must be remarkable people. Could you hold it together like this if you experienced such a tragedy is your life? We couldn’t. Could you express yourself so eloquently? We couldn’t. Could you separate emotion from logic like this? We couldn’t.
“We know she wouldn’t want things changed,” John Green said. “She would not want restrictions … I think there’s always going to be random acts. I think Christina and our family generally believes that there’s a lot of good people out there and that’s what we’re going to take away from this … We don’t wish this on anybody and I’m sure they don’t wish this on us. If we live in a country like the United States where we are more free than anywhere else then we are subject to things like this happening. And, that’s the price we have to pay.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Green family.

Paul you just a horrible individual if you have not walked in the same shoes do not be so quick to judge people that lost a daughter. YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU WOULD REACT and if you say you do then you are not telling the truth. People can lay opionions on the Greens all that they want but they just lost a precious part of them, one would think that we would sympathize not ridicule there every action. Too sad and says a lot of your character!!!!!!
I feel so bad and I am glad that the parents are taking the initiative to prevent her daughter's face and name to be used for ugly political purposes...
and I hate to bust up the love bubble between these people and you people - and yes, all our hearts break for this couple - senseless violence should never happen in a great country like ours.... with that everyone agrees -- but I have to say what no one else is saying - or asking ...
isn't there, or shouldn't there be some kind of parent rule that says you can't grant 30 interviews to the media before your dead child is even buried? Am I the only one that finds it somewhat sickening that these people - less than ONE FULL DAY after their daughter is shot and killed are sitting calmly giving interviews to person after person. Some even point out "less than 48 hours after..." and they're still giving interviews. How easily the mother sits there with hardly a shred of sadness astounds me. How easily they both use the word "was" to describe their still warm daughter... I just don't get it. Some are going to vote this down or say it's hateful - and that's fine. But These two have been everywhere since Saturday!! And this just happened on Saturday!! Acting as though their wish has come true ...
In fact, in one interview they REALLY act like their dream had come true - they talk about how much this girl loved politics and how she got involved because of Obama (a 6/7 year old gets deeply involved in Presidential politics?) and how it was an "honor" - their words, not mine - that Obama mentioned her by name. And that was one of the FEW times they showed any emotion and shed tears. NOT because their daughter was shot and killed, clearly -- because God Himself had mentioned her by name!! It was said as though the Savior Himself had blessed their dead daughter. Did ANYONE else see this?!?!?!!!?! It was pretty sickening to watch because everything else was emotionless ho hum -- exactly like all the other interviews!
It's probably only me - I'm probably the only one in the whole world who thinks these people could better respect the memory of their NEWLY deceased daughter than to show up on every two bit news cast before she's even grown cold or been placed back into the earth. I just find this rush to fame a little sickening.... or, well it's just messed up. Get off the TV, go away and grieve for your daughter! At least spend 5 minutes reflecting on HER before rushing out to get in front of the cameras.
Here we all are HEARTBROKEN over this tragedy and the loss of this little girl and the other victims and giving all our sympathy to the parents -- and the parents are treating this like the greatest opportunity they've ever been given -- "there may even be a movie!" is how they're acting. All the while crying only because the President their Lord and Savior said their name and know who they are? I mean, I understand we all grieve differently, but seriously, who acts this way?
I'm sorry, but I felt compelled to say that. I'm done. Everyone will come to their own conclusions, but that's just how I see it.
You are a horrible individual and have never known the heartbreak of losing a child, I am assuming that you never have because you have little compassion. JUST HORRIBLE!
It IS sickening how every tradgedy seems to turn people into media whores. Precisely why I have cut the cord (cable) - and my life has greatly improved. Nevertheless, my heart is broken when a child dies because I have been to too many funerals of children. You expect to bury your parents, maybe your spouse, but you NEVER expect to bury your children.
The current political climate of the scorched earth style of politics began at the turn of the century with the 2000 elections. The Florida recount & Supreme Court ruling against Al Gore really got George Soros into the mix. The SOS Project(Sec Of State's) started with FL Sec.Of State Kathlene Harris & how she was preceived to be at fault for having Bush43 installed as President. Then we have 9/11 & the debate over going to war, but that was'nt quite what pushed it over the top. The Wellstone memorial in 2002 at the UofM's Williams Arena in Minneapolis, did that. It went from a public memorial service to a political rally in very short order. A guy who worked with Wellstone here in MN was Rick Kahn, & it was he that started the "We Will Win" chant during the memorial. Then Iowa Senator Tom Harkin got into the act, doing his best to be a partisan hack during a memorial service. It all got so ridiculous, that even then Jesse Ventura walked out during the memorial. The political climate in this country has never been the same, & it will get worse before it gets better.
One hell of a watershed moment for the donks to have. They, like their kindred spirit at Westboro Baptist, have showed an inhuman disrespect for human death and suffering.
The sole difference being that Fred is in the closet, Barney's not.
Don't kid yourself perlcat, the Dems & the left are looking for their "Reichstadt Fire" moment. They need one, so it can be exploited for political power. As "Deadfish said, "Never let a crisis go to waste", so they are pushing to make this that moment. Swing & a miss.
BTW, does anyone doubt that if say, Palin, Bachmann, Coulter, or Malkin died for whatever reason(but for this discusion, we'll say shot dead), that the reaction of the Dems & the left would like a lockroom celabration with people dumping champagne? In newsrooms at ABC, NBC, CBS, the NYTimes, CNN, & at MSNBC, it would be on air, on live television. Since they have no filter of what of common decency, it would be a party on air.
I am truly sorry to say that you are right. We can only hope that people see the ugliness here and are repelled from it in enough numbers to make a difference.
You have a point. One of the most freakish things about the Kennedy/Chappaquiddick episode was that the Kopechne's were acting like they were so honored by their daughter getting to work for Teddy, that they could forgive a minor peccadillo like drowning their daughter and farting around for half a day when he could have been trying to do something.
I stay out of the television loop almost entirely -- you have no idea how it has improved my life.
Man, this guy is a real 'Hos'. I am so impressed with this man...I couldn't have done that. I would have been a blubbering mess. We should figure out some way to get this man to run for public office!
What a terrible tragedy! My heart and prayers go out to all the people involved. How long do you think it will be before the left attacks him for still being pro gun/no restrictions?
What marvelous people. It is a terrible tragedy, and they are in my thoughts and prayers.
I cannot imagine how hard it is to outlive your child. Their pain is unimaginable. Peace be with you mr. and mrs. Green, be it known that our thoughts and prayers go with you.
The Greens are one class act, a strong family with strong beliefs. I know what it is like to lose a child, my youngest son was killed in a car wreck in 2006. But, at least he was a grown man, 29 years old, and I have 2 beautifull grandchildren to remember him with. Even I cannot imagine the pain the Green family is feeling right now. Losing a 9 year old is different to me and I do not know if I could have shown the grace these people have shown knowing that my child was murdered.
My condolences on the loss of your son...29 is far too young and I can't even imagine losing a child. It truly has to be the worst kind of torture for a parent, as well as the most unnatural thing in the world to outlive a child.
I'm not much of a religious person, but if ever I were going to send my best thoughts to anyone, it's these people. They seem strong and composed now, but they're going to need a lot of shoulders to cry on in the future, and the leftist media isn't going to make things any easier for them.
Mr. Green, you hold Mrs. Green real tight. Just know that our arms are all around both of you. Heard about those leftists friends of Algore from Westboro might show up. Since then, heard about a LADY and a group she is calling "Divine Guard" will be their for you. Bet their will be some "Friends on Bikes" from the "Patriot Guard" showing up also...
We take care of our own! Prayers up for you...
