Yeah, the story I kept hearing was that his father gave him the gun on his 21st birthday. But that wouldn't fit with the narrative of needing more background checks. So NOW the father DIDN'T give him the gun?
It looks like CNN is trying to make it look like background checks are worthless, listing all the shooters that passed checks, and so the next logical step would be to BAN all guns, of course!
I wonder if Kennesaw, Ga. still has such a low crime rate...due to EVERYONE being REQUIRED to own a gun. Now THERE'S logic...don't wanna get shot? Don't commit a crime.
I vote for the fact that CNN is making shit up as they go. Have to spin the story in such away that it was the legal gun owners fault. Until someone can produce the form that was submitted by this racist bastard. I'll go with the straw purchase by daddy. The uncle is making that statement.
Notice the article says "Roof", which could have easily been his father, mother, sibling or another relation. Didn't the father say he gave him the gun? I agree, show me the paperwork!
Apparently his drinking buddies corroborate the story that the kid bought the gun himself with birthday money from his parents - and all of them tried to get the gun away from him at one point. How do you know he didn't lie to his drinking buddies? He could have just said he bought the pistol himself even if it isn't true.
I tend to believe the father and uncle, who have both stated that Daddy bought the gun for the kids birthday. The reason I believe the father is he is covering his ass left, right and sideways. He knows that if he doesn't tell the truth and it comes out that he bought the gun and gave it to his son he is in deep doodoo.
