Be grateful that you’re not CNN President Jon Klein. His network has horrible ratings, his biggest star is a thousand years old, and his product is boooooring.
On top of that, he just hired disgraced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer to do a prime-time show and now has to go out and publicly defend that boneheaded decision.
According to Klein, Spitzer has reformed himself. But as Howard Kurtz points out, CNN, which prides itself on its journalistic integrity…

…has once again hired a host with zip, zero, nada journalistic experience.
Klein once disparaged bloggers as people who do their work in their pajamas in their living rooms, but seems to forget that Spitzer did his most notable work in the bedroom in his socks.

The decision of a media company to hire a politician, such as Spitzer, is pretty much always a political decision, not a business decision. It's an attempt to display fealty to the party and to buy some influence by promoting a political career.
Hopefully, this particular attempt at political toadying will backfire on everyone involved.

Spitzer is a dirtbag, & what's funny, he went hell bent for leather prosicuting prostitution cases in NY, then gets busted for it. Gotta love that. Consider this as well, the fact that Spitzer & John Edwards got busted was great because these 2 A-holes were being touted as possible future AttyGeneral or President. Neither 1 of these snake oil guys should even be considered for those possitions.
BTW, Spitzer's escort was much hotter then Edwards mistress, so if you are scoring at home while these 2 clowns were scoring, advantage Spitzer.
I like where he said that Spitzer has a lot of things to say. Thankfully they are all LIBERAL things to say, or else CNN would have to attack him daily.
Well, since Mr. Spitzer has prior experience with whores, he's naturally drawn to CNN, just another media whore.
I still think liberal TV/radio is subsidized , maybe even with tax dollars
There are a few broadcasters who get tax dollars, NPR, PBS, NOAA weather radio, & NBC. Yep, General Electric got TARP money from the feds, & they own NBC/MSNBC/CNBC/The Weather Channel, plus a couple of more that I can't remember & I'm too lazy to look up.

For years, I traveled almost weekly and found myself watching CNN in airports, far too often. The announcer who said "THIS is CNN" had an amazing voice. I think it was James Earl Jones. That was cool - the rest was (and I assume still is) tripe. Ted Turner - married Jane Fonda - 'nuf said.
2 things happened for me that killed CNN...
1. They canceled "Crossfire" & "Capital Gang", & thus surrendered the debate format to FoxNews.
2. Bernard Shaw retired, he was the last decent journalist they really had. What's funny is guys like Bill Hemmer & Glenn Beck move from CNNN to FNC & kick ass. Tells me someone at CNN does'nt know how use on air talent.
