While I have sympathy for childrn raised here by illegal parents, and understand the futility they feel about being deported when they have never lived anywhere else, I simply cannot back anything that makes it easier to sneak in and stay here unnoticed. And I am not just bitching about Hispanincs, despite living in South Texas. Housing for the truley poor is virtually unavailable here. Not only do we have lots of illegal Hispanics, but we have tons of Africans given asylum here, and they get housing, food stamps, training, bill paying assistance, in preference to people who have been waiting for hoursing for years. If we were better about enforcing our immigration laws to ANY illegal alien, no matter where they are from, the dream act would be unnecessary, since no one would be here long enough to be raised their entire childhood here. Give that support to American citizens for college, training schools, etc. No non-citizen should be allowed to buy land in America! We are litterally selling ourselves!
No amnesty or dream act: I say just build gigantic 50 feet steel fence with electrical trip wires from border of California to Texas. Also put TSA Grope-A-Dope folks to work the border instead of being at airport wasting taxpayer money profiling grandmas, kids, nuns, patients with prosthetics legs or colostomy bags.

Physical barriers are necessary to help slow the criminal factions. But to keep the rest out, all that is necessary is to jail the CEO of any company that knowingly hires an illegal. And it wouldn't fill up the jails. After the first few CEOs do the perp walk, the rest would obey the law very carefully.
I agree from the big to the smallest business owners or those that employ illegals the moment they are sent to prison or given heavy fines that is the moment illegal immigration goes down rapidly.
