Communist Crucifix Too Far for Pope Francis: The comparison of the cross to the hammer and sickle may be accurate in that they were both instruments of misery and death but that is where the appropriateness ends. Jesus died for the sins of the world -not for the glorification of Marx, Engels and all the evil men that have followed them. The Pope was right to reject this.

Interesting, but not sure the President meant it the same way the original priest meant it. I guess he just objected to the crucifix to be used in such a way, but this Pope is kind of weird.

What his Holiness is upset by this? I thought he liked communists and their take everything from everyone and give it to the deadbeats philosophy? I mean according to him we are all killing mommy earth and making too much money...while he sits on a couple billion in gold....I think he didn't like being confronted by the truth..
The Communists seriously don't take care of the poor, the widowed, the disabled. They execute them. Money is "redistributed" right into the pockets of the few, not the population as a whole. Pope Francis may encourage a higher level of sharing of wealth, but he certainly isn't a communist.
Sorry to burst your bubble Rose but the Catholic church doesn't take care of it's poor either. The priests beg, cajole and arm twist others to help but the church itself does very little. To be fair though, that is true of all churches no matter what sect they belong to.
Except the Mormon church. I know this from personal experience.
I think he's just upset that he didn't come up with the concept first, so that he could use it to replace the true Crucifix as a symbol of the Catholic Church.
