Jon Corzine is now the center of an FBI investigation into the handling of hundreds of millions of dollars invested in his securities firm. Corzine “was one of the leading Wall Street fundraisers for President Obama’s campaign and suggested to investors that he might take a top administration post if the president were re-elected. His new legal troubles… could complicate the president’s efforts to raise money from the financial community given Corzine’s central role in those efforts.” A top administration post for Corzine? How about Ambassador to Ponzi?

You would think so but I haven't seen much more yet. Maybe the investigation is still in an early stage or maybe the media is just not eager to talk about it being that Corzine is a guy President OWS was relying on to bring in the dough.
Also remember that Corzine was damn near killed in a auto wreck going way over the speed limit...

Sorry, no time to watch the vid, but as I recall it, the issue was that he was NOT wearing his seat belt, not that the vehicle he was in was speeding.
Yes he was not wear his seatbelt, & yes, they were speeding, close to 80mph.
and yes, it was a state cop driving. hmmm interesting how cops get away with it.

The article at the link fails to mention that Corzine was "dating" (sleeping with) the head of a NJ state workers union while he was governor and contract negotiations were underway.

Exactly! Jon boy was literally in bed with Karla Katz, then president of the Communication Workers of America's NJ state arm (or should I say spread legs). More than this, he also gave Katz well over a hundred thousand dollars to buy out her husband's share of their house.
Also, any a'hole who worked for Goldman Sachs might as well have "New World Order" stamped on his forehead and a bar code implanted in his wrist.
To me, he and Lou Manzo are the biggest disappointments in Garden State politics. The difference being that Corzine is a selfish, self-serving, materialistic pos and Manzo so wanted to be mayor of Jersey City that he let himself listen to his corrupt brother Ron (which doesn't absent Lou from blame).

Sorry, lizard. Had to thumbs-down you for the "Joisee." In 56 years of life on the planet, spent mostly but not all, thank God, in New Jersey, I heard only one--ONE!--person ever say Joisee. That was my aunt's second husband, from Guttenboig, and he's been deceased for at least a decade and would be 80+ were he alive. I also respectfully disagree with the Corzine-Holder comparison. To me, it's apples and oranges, both of which are rotten but for different reasons.

Thanks for correcting me garlic. I had heard it used that way, that's why I used it... No offense taken... I grew up in the South so you are familiar with the southern 'drawl' we speak. We all know most polititions are on the take one way or another--I kinda throw them all in the same bag. I have little patience for the dirty SOBs.

BTW, nobody says "joisee". That is a dialect that is almost non-existent now. It was primarily the gahment woikuhs in NYC, and in some parts of Brooklyn (Bensonhuyst was one). You also heard some of that in Hudson County (across the river from NYC), before it joined Latin America. It's known as Nyoo Yersee there now.
The right way to say it is Nujrzee. If you're saying it without moving your mouth at all, you're saying it right.

And when this MF Global was running for gov here in NJ, all we heard was the usual babble about how he is not beholden to any special interest (because he is rich), and how he will fix everything because he "is a businessman".

I was saying it to whoever would listen at the time, that he doesn't have to be beholden to any special interest because he IS HIS OWN special interest. Now we see that that is exactly where "his head is at" (a little hippie lingo for you there).
As for being a businessman, I came to the realization well after his election as governor, when he came up with one heck of a hare-brained "monetization" scheme for the NJ Turnpike. What else could he have come up with? He IS NOT and never was a real businessman in the sense that we all understand the term. He was a Wall Street bond trader. He does not provide a product or service. He plays games with money.

The prison industry would collapse were it not for the completely irrational weed laws. In Ohio some years ago, but after the 'truth in sentencing' laws, one particular judge had his court's sentencing day as they will do. In the late morning dude goes up for his and gets 57 years for selling 3 ounces, one at a time to undercover police people. When they knocked this horrific monster of humanity over they tossed his home, finding a couple ounces in a big bag and a scale as well as a box of baggies. Oh yeah, he had a gun, too. 57 years with no chance for parole. Truth in sentencing.
Next on the docket, schlep killed a woman with a tree branch. She was quite elderly, upper 80s and very frail, poor old bag happened by and dude hadda smash her to death. He got the 7 to 11 years. She had no real money, no reason to expect a quality life in her waning years so he didn't really deprive her of enough to qualify for any real sentence, especially as compared to a guy who actually sold a few bags of weed to narcs.
I knew someone who did some time in NY State. He met someone who was in on a copped plea for "attempted 2nd degree manslaughter"
By definition, manslaughter is causing death without intending to. 1st degree is doing it while intending to cause someone harm (as in hitting someone in a bar fight and the guy goes off and dies), and 2nd degree necessarily involves not intending to cause someone harm.
Now how the hell does a person attempt to kill another while not intending to, and simultaneously not intend to cause any harm, and then leave a dead body there?
You just can't wrap your brain around that. What the hell is going on in these judges heads, if anything at all?
I have never been able to wrap my mind around the idea of a lesser sentence for "attempted" anything. You get off easier because you're not competent enough to accomplish what you were attempting?
I get our point, but in that case, he DID kill someone. He just copped a plea for a lesser, albeit semantically impossible, charge.

Not a whole lot of common sense in the drug sentencing laws these days. I can't help it, I'm a Libertarian. What the hell do I care if somebody smokes weed? Alcohol cause more problems than weed, but most politicians are drinkers, so nothing will ever be said about that.
