The articles I have just glanced at give her reasons for the tripp variously to inspire African youth, to cement diplomatic relations in Africa (so why are we pauying diplomats?) and to spread "good will." Acouple of authors even felt the trip would provide photo ops to use during the 2012 campaign to appeal to black voters, but of course, the Great One would never stoop so low. She took 2 kiddos (her brother's kids) both her kids and of course, her mother to be her live in Nanny, even overseas. She was snubbed by the president of South Africa- he sent their minister of prisons to meet her at the airport. And of course, there is always her personal agenda:
"In a conversation last week with a South African online newspaper, U.S. Embassy Spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau made clear that the trip was partially a personal pilgrimage for the first lady.
“She’s coming on this trip to talk about women’s development and youth development, and South Africa is a leader in that, not only on the continent but globally,” said Trudeau. “A visit to South Africa is important for them as a family. She’ll be visiting many Struggle-era landmarks, including the Apartheid Museum (and) the Hector Pieterson Memorial.”
Estimated costs run between $500,000 and $800,000
So... she went sightseeing... and spoke of her love for french fries... how nice. I want my money back.

I wish I can tell her "goodbye and don't let the door hit you in the a**" one day.
Maybe come Jan 2013 we will all be able to do just that!
I read somewhere that she spent like $500,000 on trinkets . Probably grass skirts, spears, wooden shields and headdress, drums, hides & skins, etc. Oh, and a CD with 'Welcome To The Jungle' on it. I bet she cash cow'd on "O"s family over there too because that IS where he was born, you know.
I want to know if she helped open clinics (HIV prevention classes), places of learning for women so they can get a job or start a business, schools and programs to feed the children... you know like Mrs. Bush did and all. Or she just went to have fun? That is all I want to know... what was the purpose of the trip? If she didn't do anything humanitarian in nature, it was a waste of my money.
THis woman runs through money like S***through a goat. If we are all to sacrifice, why aren't they cutting back on entertainment, fine dining in the White House and these incessant trips. Other than her own enjoymnet, why does she even need to GO on all these trips?
