  • Every once in a while some troll with a large blue thumb hits my posts..Who cares? if they don't have the balls to debate me I consider them just another liberal hiding behind the internet.

• Damn these people must think we are all stupid. All anyone has to do is a basic Internet search with the key words civil rights and democrats. The search result will disprove all of their claims.

  If it were not for Republicans and Southern in particular. Lyndon Johnson's civil rights bill would not have passed. It was democrat mayors in Selma and Birmingham that turned the dogs and water hoses onto those that where seeking equal treatment.

  • The best counter commercial for this would be to run video of the water hoses and dogs being used on the protesters, with the dates and cities, and then showing pictures of the mayors of the cities, and their political affiliation. Then a screenshot of the website where this article was taken from.

• If the RNC do not make a commercial out of this contrasting their history versus the DNC's claims and own history, then they'll only reinforce to me why I believe they are fish heads and the reason I am a registered independent.

  Oh, yeah... and they ought to send Newt Gingrich out on the Sunday morning talk show circuit to bring this up no matter what the Left Turns want to discuss. He'll kick the crap out of 'em.

  • Ruben, I have felt the same way for so long. Here is another opportunity and Newt would be the guy to bring it to the world's attention. I have watched the blatant rewrite of history over the years but this is just waaaay out there.
    Right now we are having such a battle within our family on this issue and the reason it is a battle is simply because, if a democrat leader says it, and obama is the biggest leader they've got, it must be true and no amount of proof offered is believed. It is truly one of the most frustrating and really weird things I have ever seen, but I am losing my daughter over it and have no clue how to approach it so sadly it's ignored and the lie lives on as fact in her head and her children's head. She has a large circle of friends all of whom believe as she does. Weird!
    Now I am going to try to listen to Mr. Travis's radio show...

        • Be patient. Protestors from the 60's are now the base of the Republican party. As she ages, she will see the light, hopefully. I will add my prayers. Politics should not destry a faimly.

    The Republican Party was founded by anti-slavery radicals. How the KKK-filled Democrat Party managed to commandeer the black vote is a lesson in how effective propaganda can be.

      Look at the welfare state right now: we have a huge welfare system that's so effective that it keeps the blacks docile while the Left callously aborts them out of existence.

      Margaret Sanger's project is chugging smoothly along like a well-oiled machine. You just have to keep the sheep mollified with money while you lead them to their slaughter.

      • The image they want to project is one of white guilt, and wanting to make up for past sins, what they are actually doing is creating a new version of slaves. Those beholden to and dependant on, the Democrats for their survival. (food stamps and welfare)

      • Amazing how those obvious dots are not connected by those who pay the greatest price.

        • A guy at work told me that we need abortion because "those are the people who shouldn't be born," and "they just grow up into the the people we don't want in our population."

          Me: "You realize that, by your account, the 'people we don't want in our population' are 60% black, right?"

          Him: "...Huh?"

  So what's missing?

  * There is no reference to the number of Democratic Party platforms supporting slavery. There were 6 from 1840-1860.

  * There is no reference to the number of Democratic presidents who owned slaves. There were 7 from 1800-1861

  * There is no reference to the number of Democratic Party platforms that either supported segregation outright or were silent on the subject. There were 20, from 1868-1948.

  * There is no reference to "Jim Crow" as in "Jim Crow laws," nor is there reference to the role Democrats played in creating them. These were the post-Civil War laws passed enthusiastically by Democrats in that pesky 52-year part of the DNC's missing years. These laws segregated public schools, public transportation, restaurants, rest rooms and public places in general (everything from water coolers to beaches). The reason Civil Rights heroine Rosa Parks became famous is that she sat in the front of a "whites only" bus, the "whites only" designation the direct result of Democrats.

  * There is no reference to the formation of the Ku Klux Klan, which, according to Columbia University historian Eric Foner became "a military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party." Nor is there reference to University of North Carolina historian Allen Trelease's description of the Klan as the "terrorist arm of the Democratic Party."

  * There is no reference to the fact Democrats opposed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution. The Thirteenth banned slavery. The Fourteenth effectively overturned the infamous 1857 Supreme Court Dred Scott decision (made by Democrat pro-slavery Supreme Court justices) by guaranteeing due process and equal protection to former slaves. The Fifteenth gave black Americans the right to vote.

  * There is no reference to the fact Democrats opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1866. It was passed by the Republican Congress over the veto of Democratic President Andrew Johnson. The law was designed to provide blacks with the right to own private property, sign contracts, sue and serve as witnesses in a legal proceeding.

  * There is no reference to the Democrats' opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1875. It was passed by a Republican Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses Grant. The law prohibited racial discrimination in public places and public accommodations.
