DHS: Make sure the turkey is completely thawed out: Sounds like something that should be left up to Michelle.

  • I've never eaten fried turkey but I've been told it is super juicy and very good. Enjoy Thanksgiving everyone and have a safe healthy happy weekend.

    • If you ever try it you will never go back to a dried out, oven baked, turkey again. Seriously though, you can get hurt if you are not cautious so read the directions that come with the fryer very carefully.

Besides the taste and juicyness of the bird the added bonus is the short cooking time. A 15 pound bird is done in 45 minutes, let it rest at least 30 minutes, then carve and enjoy. And don't forget the napkins!

      • Whiskey, my only rebuttal to the dried out, oven baked turkey charge is that I use Reynolds oven bags to cook my turkey. They come out juicy and tasty and a 15 lb bird takes 2 to 2-1/2 hours at 350 deg. Doing it that way prevents some drunk relative from tripping over the deep fryer and setting the entire backyard on fire!
Otherwise, I haven't tried the deep fried turkey yet.

        • Ah, I see your problem. Serve the hard stuff earlier, so they're passed out during the cooking. Then you can wake them when its time to eat.

          That's me. Always thinkin'.

      • I've had fried turkey, and it IS very good. Far superior to oven baked. But I keep going back to my Weber charcoal kettle. The turkey is smoked in a moist environment, and comes out perfect every time. And it can be stuffed, too.

        • I have a smokehouse out back and smoke my own bacon, hams, sausage and turkey. I love smoked meats but it is very time consuming to do it the old fashioned way so I usually wait until we do our winter butchering. Normally in January when the weather is nice and cold and the work has slowed down.

        • home smoked turkey is my fave, with all that juicy smokey taste, there's no need for na'kins, cuz you lick up all those tasty juices.

    • Lol...I got it Robert.

I have been frying turkeys for about 12 years now and never had a problem. Contrary to the Obummer and Chunky Napolean's opinion of us southern, Bible thumping, gun hugging, trailer trash rednecks, we really do know how to read the directions.

  • Awright, I know it's old but I cant resist. "Thanksgiving has been canceled this year because all the turkeys are in Washington." Sorry

  • Say, I wonder how much longer we're gonna be allowed to have regular light bulbs with which to decorate our Wintertime Diversity Celebration trees?

  • So what's next? An executive order banning Turkey Friers? I bet "Dear Leader" would do it to energize his PETA Base.

  • "Never use turkey fryers in a garage or on a wooden deck."
"Never use turkey fryers on board an airplane, on a ferris wheel or inside a rock tumbler."
"Never fill turkey fryers with gasoline instead of oil to expedite frying process."
"Keep turkey fryers away from dynamite and/or gunpowder supplies."
"Always remove fissionable materials from turkeys before frying."
"Never mistake turkey fryer for a hot tub."

    • Oh dear lord, I just fell off my chair.....................Thanks Bonfire, that is the funniest damn thing I have seen in a long time...You just made my day

      • You're welcome, and may everyone enjoy a Happy, turkey-frier-disaster-free Thanksgiving.

        • Outside of taking aim at the south, what's the point of this? The folks who do the turkey fryer thing are usually in the south, they have been doing it down there for decades, & they don't need to be told how to do it. They know how to fry turkey, let them do it & leave them alone. Napolitano has no buisiness with this issue, & should STFU.

          • Well, turkey frying has expanded to the north and you know how libs are about taking direction. I had read about several decks catching fire when the yankees started doing it.

          • The YouTube videos are hilarious. Nothing funny about a family without a home for the holidays, though.
