  • In our local reservoir we let out 15% of our total usage to save Steelhead trout, which BTW are not native. !% MUTHA F*CKING PERCENT everyday.

  • Since these reservoirs are where Californians get their drinking water, I can't help wondering what these balls are made of. Plastic? Like the plastic in water bottles that is supposed to be a health hazard? The black balls won't degrade in the hot sun and ooze petrochemical-based chemical compounds into the drinking water? Ten or twelve years down the road, will Californians start giving birth to three-headed babies?

  • This may be one of the dumbest ideas Moonbeam ever had!
    1. Black absorbs heat, so it will evaporate the water faster.
    2. At an average of $60 a month in water use, it will take 18 years to break even. The balls last 25 years. HOWEVER, if the water is evaporating faster with the balls, it will never reach the breakeven point.
    3. It's a leftist idea, so we already knew it wouldn't work.

    • Yep. Plus, they will retain the heat and transfer it directly to the water. If you want to shade something, you don't place it directly on top of the surface. When it's 90 degrees out and you want a break from the heat, you don't put on a jacket, you suspend something above you to block the sun.

      This idiocy sounds like a bad third grade science project.
