The right man…uhhh…woman…uhhh…person for the job

donna milo transgender republican

Donna Milo could be president of the Republican Women’s Club of South Florida. But a few years ago, she could have been president of the Republican Men’s Club.

That’s right, big tenters, Donna is the first known transgender Republican candidate for congress.

The Miami Herald has the details:

Donna Milo — a Cuban-American, conservative Republican, transgender woman running for Congress — says she doesn’t like labels.

“I’m an American. I make my way on the basis of ability. My triumphs are based on my abilities, not on a label or a crutch,” said Milo, a Miami Planning Advisory Board member running to replace U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Weston, one of the House’s most liberal Democrats.

Milo, 48, will speak Monday night at Fort Lauderdale City Hall, a guest at the monthly meeting of the Sunshine Republicans club, a conservative group of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender South Floridians.

“Donna is a very unique individual,” Sunshine Republicans President Benjamin Lewis said. “She brings a story with her candidacy. The story is of overcoming obstacles and desires to become the person she has wanted to be.”

Milo has found that her transgender status has enhanced her ability to run for congress in Broward County because she is now able to tell the voters, “Look, no hanging chad.”

  • First of all, he could never be a "she" because you can't change DNA, bone structure, or brain structure. Secondly, to equate being a "tranny" or gay or any social choice with being black, which is something you are truly born with, is insulting to blacks and other ethnic groups who have suffered real hardships.

    • Agree with you on him not ever being a her.

And the only people who equate being a tranny or gay to being coloured are the libs. I've actually cringed when hearing them equivocate the gay rights movement to the civil rights movement--insane.

  • If she ran for office in San Francisco it would confuse the hell out of everyone. They'd want to vote for her as a trans-sexual but would hate her as a Republican. I think you'd see smoke coming out of people's ears over it.

  • I find it amusing when gays, trannies, blacks, pick your group, are jumped by libs if they are conservitives. Not all gays, trannies, & black want to pay half of what they make in taxes, & going to pay for crap they don't want. If Milo wins election, & votes for lower taxation & tries to get gov't out of our lives, that's what matters. Not her "status".

  • I just resigned. Until this morning I did not know that being Sunshine Chairman inferred a sexual orientation. Now that I have been informed, I have resigned and will no longer serve in that capacity among my friends. Not that there is anything wrong with that....it is just that it makes my husband look a bit confused.

Thank you IHTM for the public service announcement, you have served us well today.
