Eurozone debt jitters creeping into French bonds

Eurozone debt jitters creeping into French bonds. France is the continent’s No. 2 economy after Germany. If France goes, game over.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • "If I have to be a fascist dictator for 4 years to get this country into shape, I WILL BE"

I can see this person rising up in the polls..

  • Based on the demonstations and riots in France, it seems they are unable to sustain the socialist government handouts they have promised. And now everyone thinks they deserve those handouts, even when there is no money. I mean, how dense do you have to be? No money =NO MONEY! I am sure the government would like to maintain the staus quo, but they can't. When recipients outweigh donors, the system will crash, whether it is a job, a government, a checking account or whatever..

      • Exactly. It is like trying to dip water froma dry well. IT CANNOT WORK!! I wish we could ensure that every singel citizen had a good paying job, healthcare, a great home, a great trouble free car. But that is not practical because it would beggar every member of the country to even try to achieve. And its worse when some are simply not willing to contribute at all in any way!

  • If France goes game over.....as far as the future of the Euro Zone goes, I just do not see any other possible outcome. The high yields, of course, equal high risk and who has the risk appetite to buy that debt today. The socialists have truly run out of money.
