Ex-President Clinton to Newsmax: Raising Taxes Won’t Work

Ex-President Clinton to Newsmax: Raising Taxes Won’t Work. Even old Slick Willie thinks Obama is heading down the wrong path. Or, is this the first shot fired in the Elect Hillary 2012 campaign? Regardless what you think of Bill Clinton, he’s right on no new taxes.

  • In the back of her mind hillary is thinking, 'Should I neutor him ("O") slow or just cut it all off.' Do whatever it takes and while you're at it, take Mudshell's head, sew the eyelids and mouth closed, boil it down to tennisball size and mount it on a post on your front lawn.

  • I'll give Clinton one thing. He talks to NewsMax. A great, informative magazine, a great, informative website.

  • "“One of the things that President Reagan did with the Democratic Congress in the early 1980s that never gets any discussion is the way they set up this system to purge the debt overhang from the savings and loan collapse. It was unpopular but it had to be done. And as soon as we flushed it out there was a big increase in investment."

He's got his facts wrong, the S&L's collapsed in the late 80s; the Resolution Trust Corp, headed by the late Bill Seidman (one of the few intelligent commentators to appear on CNBC) was formed in 1989 to liquidate all the real estate and other assets from the failed institutions. But Slick is correct, the country took actions that allowed the assets to find their proper prices and have the markets clear. The people who made the bad investments took the losses. There were no bailouts or propping up of insolvent owners or overpriced assets. It was painful for those who lost money but the rest of the country was able to move on and recover fairly quickly - the tech boom of the 90s followed soon after. Compare and contrast with today's "solution" to the problem. Unfortunately, there are few (if any) folks like Seidman around today to explain to the genius PhDs what the hell they need to be doing.
