I stay the hell away from politics on FB. It's not worth it. I have no desire to clog timelines with political rants & stories. It puts off people as well. I won't do it. Mine is mainly music, sports, animals, & a few oddball things. But politics? Nope. The only 2 things I "like" that could be political are...
1. Ted Nugent-It's about music, but he is a political figure.
2. Rob Ford-He not in American politics, & he's entertaining as hell.
I love watching Ted rip up the anti-gun and anti-hunting liberals on his FB page.

To say "nonsense" in the tech world is nonsense. Whenever some new facet of spying and tracking is revealed it always turns out to be at least ten years in "development" (which means covert use).

But, seriously, if you want to say it's impossible, or that no corporation would ever be interested, then that's fairly naive.
With the link you supplied, there is nothing covert going on. You know you're putting on those sensor pads. They couldn't do that secretly.
As for facial recognition, people take these controllers apart all the time. if there were any sort of camera in there, it would be known immediately. Same with the TV that people think is watching them. The camera has to be some place, and it would be known about. So, no. Nothing covert is going on there.
Farcebook is a galactic sized waste of time. Rather then interact with real people, some just post the most mind numbing useless details about their lives. Sorry, but I have a hard time caring that your dog just took a dump outside.
This weird obsession with tracking people's whereabouts, reactions and emotions (I read about video games and TVs that can tell when you're smiling) is flat-out demented.
When I hear about corporations that want to know what you're thinking at every moment of every day I wonder "What the hell is wrong with them?"
And scientists are so eager to give those demented people even more power to dissect your thought processes. They want to hook your brain up to the internet. And, in perfect incremental fashion; in the way they always accept and adapt to science instead of bucking it, the public will say, "This makes my life easier!"
I wonder when we'll realize that recent science has done nothing but empower the most mentally disturbed stalker billionaires in our midst.
I think Twitter is even worse than Facebook. I don't care if you are in your PJs reading the morning paper to your cat.
My thought on Twitter: They should make the service free... but if you want to DELETE a tweet, well, that'll be $5,000.
They would've become rich off of Alec Baldwin alone.

Face Book is a giant, high tech public restroom wall.
I had set up an account some time ago but have long since abandoned it- only logging in to communicate with a few people I have no other means of contact. In this day and age of metadata gathering it makes zero sense to participate too heavily in something that is set up so the subjects can actively abet in the gathering of their own data by offering it up in the form of regular updates, likes, pictures, and so on. Surreptitiously experimenting via emotional manipulations does not indicate much respect for users and burying the particulars so that the average user won't understand the full implications of what they're agreeing to- effectively tricking them isn't the behavior of anything worthy of anyone's time or effort.
This story should be widely disseminated but of course it won't because rivaling the FB contempt for the general population is that of the mass media government propaganda ministry.
The only emotions I have when using FB are either happiness when I find an old friend, or annoyance when I read some of the political bullshit some of the brain dead post.
