Feel good story

Feel-good story of the day: A Swiss photographer held hostage for more than two years by Muslims in the Philippines, wrestled the machete away from a captor, slit the thug’s throat, and escaped in a hail of bullets.

J.P. Travis: Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1976 graduate of University of Michigan, father, grandfather, husband, founder and CEO of Travelyn Publishing (http://www.travelynpublishing.com/), and passionate anti-government believer in individual liberty.

  • Took matters in his own hands and did what he needed to do. Great. When the goat lover arrives at the gates of hell, hope there's a pig right there with their name right on the side.

  • Now if he was an American and coming home, Holder would be waiting for him with a laundry-list of how he violated his captor's civil rights, several UN regulations on treatment of indigenous minorities, and overstaying his visa.

    • You know, I have been wondering why ISIS captives haven't tried fighting their way out of captivity, especially the former Ranger. You have to know that they are going to decapitate you, so why not try to take some of them out? Maybe they know how Holder will react.

  • He probably heard rumor of obamacare being implemented in the Philippines and decided it's time to leave.

  • Good old Aby Sayyaf jihadis getting back into the news. Good work by Lorenzo Vinciguerra for living another day. I just hope he's not targeted by fellow jihadis who will want to kill him for this, hope he can stay safe.

    • According to the story, the compound he was held in was under attack, and he escaped in the confusion. It just might have been his first opportunity.

  • Maybe he heard President Obama was thinking about rescuing him and decided, "Holy crap, it's now or never."

    • An aside JP, but another feel good story (for me any way). Heard a hint of a rumor (I think the guy slipped because it was followed by silence and never brought up again) on tv so I checked a couple Wolverine blogs. Looks like Jim Tressel is your next coach.

Do those sweater vests come in maize & blue ya think? :P
