First photo uploaded to the World Wide Web

First photo uploaded to the World Wide Web. Turns out the history-making picture was a clumsy Photoshop mess uploaded by a guy into cross-dressing… so, in other words, not much has changed about the Internet.

  • I don't seem to be able to post anything about this, was it something I said?

    • Probably. Did you get a "gnarly dude, you 404'd it" message?

There are filters that look for certain key words or letter combos. I've had to write an innocuous post and then go back to edit it on occasion.

      • Yeah, I was trying to say that Al Gore had nothing to do with inventing the Internet, the web was built by the Adult Entertainment Industry.

        • Pr0n left its spoor on a platform assembled by government, academia & military. Unleashed for commercial use by the signature of George Bush (the Elder), its patently clear that private industry had little interest in building such a network out to scale for decades. The man who built Mosaic, precursor to every browser this site's readers use--unless you are some kind of Lynx Luddite--knew this to be true

        • I think there's more than a bit of truth to that. When you look at the numbers it's amazing how much of the total bandwidth is going to porn. Maybe that explains the election of Barack Obama.

          • Maybe that explains the election of Barack Obama.

You mean all the porn sites that feature black men screwing white people?

          • Well, actually I was thinking of all the people who are ignorant because they spend all their time looking at porn, but maybe you have a valid theory too.

  • First photo uploaded to the World Wide Web.

OK, now show us the First nude photo uploaded to the World Wide Web.
Oh, wait! It's probably some fat guy. Nevermind!

  • A great deal has changed about the internet. The World Wide Web is exactly that now.

Other governments watching what we type to each other right now.
    Spy vs Spy internet style.

Chinas Golden Wall "their internet" we built it. But they have gotten so good now that we need hackers from the IRC's to combat them.

We have an internet warfare center now. GPS black out zones.
Databases like harvard that use to be open are closed now, unless you have the back door pass words which are still online.

Web sites that should not be online but are. That are very destructive to our own Security.

I have 3000 search engines tied to my directory, and there is still more out there.

If you know the net? There is nothing out of your reach.

Search engines that tap directly into the Social Security database out there.

And there is so much more.
The leaks to wikileaks was based on an honor based system with in the U.S. military, and people like me telling them that, that was a stupid idea.

Twitter, facebook, and what ever else fad is out there, I don't even bother with because it's still just a fad. Ihave all of their statistics in how the users use them.

At least 29 years online, I don't go after the easy stuff, it's a waste of time, and there is more out there that I can't even post about.

By the way; Do you think my name is real, or my email is real, or my i.p. is real?

I know enough of the net to avoid alot of it, it's too dangerous.

    • I just want to make it clear that the above poster is not me.

Although I do agree that evil Corporate Greed needs to be dealt with.

      • I just want to make it clear that the above poster is not me.

Seriously? We needed to be told that you didn't rename yourself "the occupooping retard"?

Maybe the occupooping retard really is smarter than you.

      • John--I thought the "above poster" showed you third from the left.
Oh, wait. . .you were talking about the "occupooping" guy? Never mind.
Still a nice picture of you, though. Just sayin'

      • "I just want to make it clear that the above poster is not me."
I just want to make to make it clear that no one cares, we just assumed it was your more intelligent doppleganger.
