Former NSA director wants Chinese-style Internet. With strict rules and regulations and no anonymous postings critical of the government. Anybody still unconvinced these people are the enemy of liberty?

I guess the first amendment means nothing to clowns like this guy. This is the mindset of most of the fascist turds currently masquerading as our so called leaders it seems.

See the direct quote posted by MGAP. The guy doesn't seem to understand the difference between an ISP and webmail. And what kind of misunderstanding would justify saying restricted Chinese Internet is better? I recently exchanged emails with someone in China who complained about the difficulty of emailing from that country if you happen to include certain forbidden words.
Just because its a direct quote doesn't mean it's not being taken out of context. Have we learned nothing from the LSM? Alex Jones is about as trustworthy as Crowley. I'm not saying its completely wrong, I'm just saying let's not believe it purely because it fits our narrative. Like I said, I've met the guy. I've talked to the guy. And I'm not saying the guy is the sharpest tool in the shed on Cyber stuff. He was DirNSA before Cyber was even a real thing.

Notice that he confuses ISP with webmail provider and is quoted on the matter of anonymity: "The problem I have with the Internet is that it's anonymous."
Control freaks hate anonymous critics because it prevents them from eliminating them, plain and simple.
Yes he does say that, but there is little there to substantiate Jones.
Last para:"We have a very difficult time with this," Hayden said. He then asked, "is our vision of the World Wide Web the global digital commons -- at this point you should see butterflies flying here and soft background meadow-like music -- or a global free fire zone?" Given that Hayden also compared the Internet to the wild west and Somalia, Hayden clearly leans toward the "global free fire zone" vision of the Internet.
I'm not sure that last conclusion is entirely warranted, but considering it's the only real opinion in the story, I'm a bit baffled as to how Jones arrives at the opposite conclusion.
PS -- Jones has just made a fool of himself over the Navy Yard shooting, evidently unable to distinguish the difference between news being updated and corrected and a conspiracy.

Normally you'd be right but in this case it isn't gonna happen, GoldBoy's been around too long. Most people here realize the truth in what you say and almost all aren't really "talking" to him, they're more or less making asides to (and for) the rest of us for their own mental health.

Frankly if anyone wishes to waste their time trolling a database when they aren't going to get a response then it's on them.
By injecting its nonsense into discussions where it isn't even remotely on topic it has demonstrated that its purpose here is nothing more than the equivalent of poking at a hornet's nest to rile up the denizens solely for the entertainment of seeing the anger play itself out.
By very occasionally demonstrating the ability to engage in thoughtful debate it has abandoned the excuse of actual stupidity and by resorting to its tired mantras it has shown that it does not intend to actually engage in any intelligent debate beyond bringing the level of discourse down and provoking us to demonstrate our lack of discipline when we respond at all.
