The huge divide between Reps and Dems on this point is simple to explain.
Dems will never consider a government a threat that provides them with their daily needs at the expense of others.
... He... is a cancer. He eats away at everything and anything that he grabs ahold of. His allies, and his enemies. His fears, and his dreams. From the pacific shore, to the darkest reaches of Africa. From the poorest families... to the very top of the ladder. He has no seperation of reality and fantasy. He knows no halting, even if he depends upon it. He will stop at nothing, until the world as we know it IS nothing. Nothing but a hollow, lifeless shell. The sooner you realize this... the sooner we can cure this poison.
He is neither right nor left.
He is both.
Give in to the party system, and allow the world to be corrupted.

You DO realize that a VAST majority of the decline occured during the period between '03 and '08... during much of Bush's reign. Correct? Just sayin'.

I do think the media had something to do with that. They were certainly highlighting the likes of Cindy Sheehan and other Bush Administration "civil rights" critics almost every day back then. And I do notice that Cindy and the other critics have disappeared from the media now, even as Obama has continued most of the policies that these people denounced Bush for. I dare say that if the media was denouncing the Bush policies now that Obama is president the way they were denouncing them when Bush was president, the "government threat" poll number would be a hell of a lot highter.
I would bet the TSA, "warrantless wiretaps," and a few other of our responses to being attacked by an evil empire had a dam big part of that, rightly or wrongly.
Just ask the Sacketts of Priest Lake, Idaho. (see IHTM-"EPA to landowner, this land is our land"). This same thing happened to me in California a few years back. An out of town enviro nazi group spouted, "wetland", I was forced to sell at a huge loss, (millions). Now obummer has gotten hold of the inland waters acts and perverted them to no end. Yes I must say our freedoms and rights have become the absurdities of this and the last administrations. Good luck with the next one. If no change, NO CHANGE!
