  • As one born during the JFK administration I could say that your cohort may be soft in general but probably no worse than any other in reality. That said, you and your husband appear to be exceptional people regardless of whose peer group you belong to.

• Wow there is a lot of hate around here for young people when the hate should go to Obama. Although it is true that a lot of young people being idealistic put their faith in Obama many who were mislead are now turning around. Usually when young people become responsible about life in general they become more realistic. I did not vote for obama because I knew he sucked and I do blame a lot of the very younger people (like the first voters) for Obama being President but like I said I think that there is a lot of that are changing. Hopefully that young vote will do it right (in bigger numbers) this year.

    All I did is ask that people have patience everyone needs to grow up. People that voted for Carter I am sure in great numbers have redeemed themselves... right?     • LOL Kimmy, you just reminded me of something silly which I recalled...I was in the first grade in 1976 (I'm 42). My first grade class held a mock election, and I was the ONLY one in the class who voted for Ford! I can remember a classmate making fun of me because Carter was the new guy, and Ford was the old guy, and it wasn't cool to vote for the old guy. :D

      As for the point of your post, I have never assumed that someone should think one way or another because of age, sex, race, or any of the other little boxes in which we like to put ourselves. :)

• If it's true, then it's ironic young people support Obama in "record numbers" because they're the chief victims of the miserable job market and the reckless debt that his administration is running up. In three years and two months Obama's been in office he's added $5 TRILLION to the national debt. Who's going to pay it? Not me, I'm a retired grandfather and, with luck, I'll be gone before the fiscal house of cards collapses; but my children and, especially, my grandchildren will be living in a bankrupt Third World America with a bleak future.
