By the end of "2010", I was rooting for the monolith...
I still wish people would pivot from 'liberal' to 'Progressive'. Progressives have been sullying the name of liberals for decades- trading on their name while really pushing big govt ideas. I'm not saying that they are mutually exclusive, but the biggest problems our country faces are made worse by the Progressive agenda that takes the worst of socialism with the worst in crony capitalism into something more akin to Fascism. The state takes precedence over the individual thru command-and-control (taxes and regs) of industry. That is not 'liberal' in the true sense of the word. Liberals and Progressives both see the central govt as a way to enact change. Liberals use the govt to enact change that they think they can't get any other way. Progressive use the govt to enact the changes they want with out regard the rights of individuals.
Progressives are basically Liberals that have become drunk with power and think that they can come up with better solutions - and impose them no matter how much it impedes on individual rights.
This is why Progressives and Establishment Republicans have such contempt for the rest of us. They have been in power so long they see the rest of as the enemy than they do each other- and even foreign actual enemies. Who does BHO treat with more disdain- the TEA Party or Putin?
The 'racist' label is the lefts version of the reflexive insult to take attention away from the real issue when they don't have anything substantive to say.
Obama is been very crafty in his use of race. He knows that it is most powerful if he refrains from using it and lets us apostles do his dirty work. When he does use it, he uses it tangentially- Trayvon as his son, the contrast with the views of his grandparents, or just my uttering 'birther'. He leaves the blunt attacks to people like Holder who uses it like a brownshirt batoning protesters.
So, what was the worst racism that BHO mentioned in his speeches? I think it was being followed by frowning mall security. I'm surprised John Conyers didn't get up and race-baiter slap him. There is a man who faced fire hoses, dogs and old-timey racism. Of course, BHO never faced racism since he was a 'foreign student'. Maybe he should talk about nativism?
Yes, that's another peeve I'm trying to make a pet of. I often ask people to call them "leftists," not liberals, as liberal is what men like sam Adams, George Washington, and Ben Franklin were.
Then Conyers should also bitch slap Holder for making it sound like asking for documentation for his illegal acts was racism.
