I am so fed up with those that worry about offending some person over the normal things we have done here as part of our culture. It is past time to expect other cultures to shut up about what we do here or move back to where they might be less offended or get counseling or whatever the heck they need to stop acting like they are entitled to something special that results in something being taken away from the rest of us.

Either way, Jehovah Witnesses DO worship Jesus, therefore, in my eyes at least, they are Christian. They do believe some things that are different from more mainstream Christian churches, but I believe worshipping Christ qualifies them as Christian.

I guess this shit head has never done the math with Obama or he can't add that many zero's together. Wish I would have seen the whole thing but I probably would have hit the TV with my coffee. Just the few seconds I saw pissed me off. These NEA folks really think their shit doesn't stink.

They also (in varying parts of the country) have graduation at the end of grade school (5th or 6th grade) at the end of middle school (8th or 9th grade) and then in High School. We moved a lot when I was a kid, so I missed all the graduations. I've graduated twice. High School and College.
Yes, as a matter of fact, the DO wear tiny little gowns and mortar boards. Some schools also have a graduation from ptimary school ( 5th or 6th grade) and some for 8th grade. HS graduation is ho hum by the time they reach 12th grade. Here's my stand. This is America. This is the country in which you CHOOSE to live and work and raise your family. It is an insult to MY cultural sensitivity to make me listen to crap like Justin Bieber in preference to a number of Patriotic songs. I *heart* that movie. One of my absolute favorites.
Kimmy (and others), if you want a real treat, get the deluxe model DVD that has all sorts of extra outtakes and goodies on it. They show an alternate beginning that wasn't used, just in storyboard, but I think with actual dialog (been a while now!). Started with them at the neighbor's cookout, and you only gradually figure out something is a little different about them -- but the point is, I watched that with my jaw dropped open, it was like watching a Republican manifesto! At least with its portrayal of family and family loyalty and old-fashun' values. As it is, it does get there, somewhat less obviously, but just as effectively.
Ya know what other show does it for me like that? King of the Hill. I was very surprised first time I saw it (I'd avoided it for a long time), and same thing, jaw-dropping, "Hank Hill is a spokesman for the local Republican Club,and he is NOT A BUFFOON!!!" There's a great episode where they have to chase the hippies out of the state park. They do it by threatening them with WORK.
The Hippie invasion was a GREAT episode. King of the Hill is based in a small suburb of Dallas, Garland Texas. For years they didn't put in bus service, because they felt it would slow the influx of "indesirables" (read poor) into their little bastion!

Yeah they are. Hence shows like GCB (I refused to watch it, but I know pwople who did and it was all about the rich bitches in Dallas and its environs.) Big Hair, big houses, and enouch bling to sink a ship.
I saw it out of curiosity and I am glad it got cancelled. It was a "Desperate Housewives" wannabe and I stopped watching DH after the first season and I can't believe that show has lasted as long as it did. In any case, Dallas also has a bad reputation with the Dallas centric reality shows going around as well. There is one with some disgusting lady that is so mean (Rich Big Texas) I think is what is called.
I dont know if they had another one after the one that I bought but the one I bought was the one with all the extra stuff in it and I think I remember that, they never animated it if I am not mistaken. I love that movie. I mean it was for a lack of a better word... Incredible. I could identify with every single member of that family with all their coolness but also imperfections.
King of the Hill I got late onto that bandwagon but once I catched on I got to say it was a very good show. I am still angry that the final episode wasn't as touted as I think it should have been if I didnt just happen to be watching Fox that day, I would have missed it.

Even if the guy that wrote it, is a Christian, the song is vague about a specific deity. I am pretty conservative, but I can understand not including Jesus in state-sponsored events. Jesus is specific to Christianity, and while I don't think it's offensive in any way, I can understand the distinction. GOD, on the other hand is universal. Even Wiccans believe in GOD (or at least in "godS"). Only the pseudo-intelligentsia atheists don't believe in a deity, and they are so insecure about their beliefs that they almost wet their pants when they even hear His name mentioned. So, I am afraid that it must be the USA that offends these public-school dictators, and not God. While I don't approve of shooting them for treason, maybe we could make California a dumping ground for unpatriotic imbeciles, and just wait until they die of attrition?
