The House nad Senate were informed they could NOT read it until it was passes. And at a zillion pages mostly of legalese and special favors, I might not have read it either. THere was precious little about the program itself.
Sounds suspiciously like someone's reelection campaign isn't going so well. Could it be because he sold out all the people who voted for him in the first place? Maybe he miscalculated how many people were supposed to forget this little act of treason.
Bart is no longer a congressman. He saw the writing on the wall after his cave-in and chose not to run for reelection last year. The seat now belongs to a Republican.

Don't hit me with a newspaper, but when the politicos talk about welfare, they are not including food stamps. THAT is considered a nutritional assistance program. Welfare rees to cash payments, housing, etc.

Reminds me of something El-Rushbo says every so often, that you will never find a musium or monument dedicated to great moderates of their time. The Kennedy's & Paul Wellstone are considered great liberals. Guy's like Reagan & Goldwater are considered great conservatives. Ask yourself this, who are the great moderates & what did they acomplish?
This happens over and over and over again with Libs. They support the candidate who addressed their particular pet issue, expecting that the candidate/party view will stay the same. But Libs are ALWAYS looking ahead, and they have learned that what they need to do to make BIG changes is to chip away at them bit by bit.
They don't just want abortion to be legal, they want abortion on demand to be legal, they want abortion on demand to be free, heck - who knows? They might even want abortion to be mandatory to ease population overcrowding. Or they may be working up to infanticide like quite a few of their educators are in favor of.
The point is that at some point, the Libs plans cross over the individual's lines. At that point, the person is in a terrible position. Do they suck it up and flip sides, or do they accept it, because they have truly believed in the BS they have been fed about how EVIL conservatives are? They are putting themselves in line for ridicule if they flip, but they have to accept the unacceptable if they don't.
