Not according to the quagmire judges. Just wait for it. Soon you can marry your car, your dog, your cat. But don't you dare pray at a football game or some other school event.
I thought the regulation of marriage was a state and not a federal function.

This is a slam dunk legally. I don't know how you can stop it you 'numerists'! The only hope of stopping it is that people start to use it to get around inheritance taxes and the Feds step in.

If marriage is simply a contract, a business transaction, it is only a matter of time before prostitution is legal. It's just a short term contract. Are serial marriages that much different. Only on time scale.

And what about companies that provide health care to a spouse and kids? They have to provide health care for a guy's five wives and 20 kids?

At some point consent will be a thing of the past. The richest/most powerful in society will require multiple wives and consent won't be required. ,The guy says I pick you and she or he must go, even if he or she says no he or she will have no choice. Why the richest or most powerful? Because considering how everything is... from the economy to most people living on welfare to loose morals and what not, only the richest and the most powerful will be able to afford having wives and children and we could even see the return of fifedoms actually.
Maybe too a dramatic outlook but anything is possible. This could affect age of consent as well, where we find that little six year old girls can marry 40 or 50 year old men (a la Momo).

It does. Once it is "lawful" to do something that carries a lot of dangers for innocent and helpless individuals (especially the poor and uneducated), it is them that will be suffering the most under the "law". The situation with Sodom and Gomorrah (and Pompeii and Rome and Ancient Greece...) is that innocents were being ill treated or evil treated to the point where it was no longer a sustainable nor a just society... it was IMPOSSIBLE to go back to a place where there could be true change... they had to be eliminated.

They marry one officially, the others unofficially. The unofficial wives get welfare, food stamps and yet more for each kid they have.
You add up 5-10 wives and 20-30 kids and that amounts to a pile of money from the state every month.
I started with "at some point" I am not talking about right now.
At some point we will run out of money to take care of people and then only certain people will be able to have multiple wives. We have seen this in many civilizations of the past.
However yes right now as it is, a man legally marries one, then does a "spiritual" ritual to marry the other and between welfare and jobs (if any) they are a burden on society and then that leads to my point (possible) at some point in the future.

The problem with the left is not so much a denial of slippery slopes - that they exist is absolutely beyond any question.
The main problem with the left is the utter inability to see causes and effects, to visualize actions and consequences, and to project into the future. It's like they're stuck in the present, and will hold their breath until they turn blue if they don't get what they want NOW.
