Hillary book bombs

In spite of media fawning, Hillary’s book bombs. Simon & Schuster printed and shipped one million copies of the book prior to its release date. They were “hoping and praying” to sell at least 150,000 the first week. They sold 60,000.

            So you found the book discounted on Amazon and something called "Bookdip"? You don't spend much time buying books, do you? If you did, you'd realize that it's SOP for big book outlets to offer best sellers at 30% off. That's still a far cry from Rose's "belief" that Bookbub (or whatever it was that she googled up) was selling it for $2.99.

            Incidentally, I asked a question that none of you have yet had the guts to answer: What's it to you if Hillary Clinton's book sells well or poorly? What possible difference would it make to your right wing world either way?

            You can't answer that question, can you?

            THere's nothing wrong with saying "I'll bet" in casual conversation. It becomes dishonest, though, when you try to use "I'd be willing to bet" as evidence supporting your position in an argument.

            But, hey, if you have reason to believe that Wide Stance and Diaper Dave DON'T have kinky stories, feel free to say why. I'm just speaking from what I've heard about them in the media. Maybe you know them better than I do?

          • I looked at a copy of the book at Barnes & Noble and I didn't seen any introduction by Monica Lewinsky. Maybe she didn't write an introduction for the printed book. Maybe she only contributed an oral introduction for the eBook version.

          • I'd never put something like that on a Kindle, it would leave a permanent stain.

            Incidentally, what's it to you if Hillary Clinton's book sells well? In what way does that hurt you or anyone else?

  • A 14 million dollar advance? Steven King doesn't get that much, and he's sold more books than anyone in the last 40 years. She must be counting on no one bringing this up when she starts in on the "income inequality" phase of the campaign.

    • WHere in the world are you getting the notion that those who criticize "income inequality" are opposed to very famous, very talented or very celebrated individuals being offered (or receiving) large payments for their services?

      The idea of "income inequality" is that it's wrong for the rich to get richer on the backs of the working poor. Show me how it's hurting an underpaid clerk at WalMart for Hillary Clinton to accept a large advance for a book the publishers very much want to publish.

      In short, it isn't. What DOES hurt that underpaid clerk is when wealthy business owners and investors choose to underpay their employees, thereby obliging the taxpayers to provide supplemental support.

      See how much trouble you get into when you depend on the right wing media for your information about us liberals, instead of coming directly to us and asking what we believe?

    • I don't get it either. That's an enormous advance. According to the link, they don't expect to get any of it back, and I don't understand why not. Who would give a Clinton that much money without some clauses that demand certain performance levels?

      Add this inexplicable advance to the inexplicably large salary Chelsea was getting for sounding like a high school reporter on NBC News. It seems that media corporations are essentially gifting the Clintons with enormous amounts of money... in expectation of what? Are these advance bribes based on the assumption that Hillary will be the next president?

        As for the rest of your suspicions, Clinton has had a very interesting and colorful life, and is also the frontrunner for the 2016 presidential election. Are you really so sheltered as not to understand why a publisher would LOVE to get the contract for her book?---and would pay a great deal to keep some other publishing house from getting it first?

          In fact, you're struggling so hard to discredit her that it becomes VERY obvious to any onlookers that she's a force to be reckoned with. If she weren't, you wouldn't care what she wrote or who published it.

            Back in 2012, I remember some of you were waxing ecstatic over Herman Cain (mainly because, as you said, you couldn't wait to yell "RACIST!" at any liberals who criticized him). How'd he work out for you?

            As for the Indian ancestry thing: so what? Lots of family stories are handed down, and I'll bet you've even got a few in your family. Mine? I supposedly have a royal Turkish ancestor. My great great great grandparents said so. Just because I look about as Anglo-Saxon as Peter O'Toole doesn't mean it's a lie, nor does it necessarily follow that that's how I got into college.

            Now that we've got that settled, if you're that bothered by lying politicians, why didn't you care that Cheney lied that he "would have been happy to serve" in Vietnam? Or that Bush lied us into a terribly expensive (and not yet paid for) disaster in Iraq, with terrible longterm consequences for us, the Middle East and the world? Or that Herman Cain lied about his sexual shenanigans? Or that Rumsfeld lied about how long the Iraq war would last? Nah---let's just let those slide, and focus ALL our attention and outrage on ELIZABETH WARREN SAID SHE HAS CHEROKEE ANCESTRY BUT WON'T PROVE IT TO US!!!!!!
