Hi-speed train kills reindeer ‘like meat grinder’: farmer. We heard about the unintended consequences of wind farms on birds and bats… Here’s not-so-good news for more denizens of the animal kingdom that wander into the path of another of the pols’ favorite public money wasters. Imagine the new winter solstice song: “Rudolf, the red-nosed SPLAT!” Hey, wonder what will these trains hit in California?

I'm shocked!
Surely thee must be someone that can dispute this story.
I didn't think there was a high speed train that got up to top speed!!
This must be a mistake.
Nahhhh, they will just put pedestrian air bags on them like the Volvos.
Anybody else remember the simpsons episode with the monorail this sounds kind of familiar
Thankfully, the high speed train boondoogle will never be built in Kalifornia.
Sadly, the unfinished and never operational high speed train boondoogle will cost the state of Kalifornia over $200 billion dollars.
I'm sure they'll have some sort of extremely expensive sensor system to tell the engineer that he's hit something that was once alive.
Nah, they'll just make 'em do 25 in populated areas and 5 in the illegal crossing zones.

I know the answer. What will high speed trains hot in California? Environmentalists.
Ed, We have no Reindeer, but plenty of crackheads and alcoholics end up on the tracks and get smacked..Can you imagine how long it would take a train going 200 MPH to stop? Add the weight of at least 5 passengers and couple of crew and that makes the distance even longer. Train versus pedestrian accidents occur frequently in Kalifornia, I am sure this billion dollar boondoggle train will take out a few.
Just a side note, last one of these I went to, A lady who like to smoke rock cocaine got high, wandered in front of a freight train going 25 MPH, got hit and lost an arm, we located the arm about 100 feet from the point of impact, the fingers were still holding an unbroken crack cocaine pipe and a "rock". (piece of rock cocaine)
Here's another one:

I used to ride a commuter train to NYC. One evening, we hit a clown walking on or beside the tracks in the dark. I was in the first car, we could hear the body bouncing up and down against the undercarriage. It took a while for the engineer to figure out what had happened and stop. The train was stuck there because the authorities had to come and investigate so we had to wait for another train to come get us. This train was doing 50 MPH, tops. If a bullet train hit somebody in the dark at 200 MPH, there probably wouldn't be enough pieces left to investigate... assuming the crew even knew they hit something.
How many "Pink Slime" stories are we to digest in a day?
