I would add to Big Al's post the history of contraception and abortion. Margaret Sanger, known as the founder of the womens rights movement, was a key player in getting birth control education out to the masses. She was also a supporter of the Eugenics Movement, which believed only those of a superior race should procreate. Carnegie, Rockerfeller, Harrison, Mellon, all staunch Democrats, provided the funding for eugenics research.
It isn't that far a leap from birth control to abortion to control the minority population. Since free condoms, birth control, was not doing what the Democrats wanted it is only one small step to back, promote and force the taxpayers to pay for abortions. Compare the abortion rate of poor innercity blacks to the rest of the population to see how well their ideas are working.
Since the Democrats could not control human behavior, people are going to have sex, they set up a win situation to cover everything. We (the government) will give you contraceptives so you don't get pregnant. We (the government) will pay for an abortion if you forget your pills or rubber. We (the government) will pay you and feed you to sit on your ass. And, we will pay you more if you forget your pills or rubbers.
Hitler was a piker, he didn't understand social engineering nearly as well as the Democrat Party. Keep the poor under our thumb, feed them a little, give them a dump to live in, give them a little cash for their dope, drink and smokes, and they will be happy with their lot in life. No dictator in history has done a better job of screwing the average citizen than the Democrat Party.
I found the following last year. I thought it was worth saving and now I share with you.
Democrats seem to be missing something... Hmmm what could it be???
Oh yea, 113 years that take the Democrats from their birth in 1800 to 1965.
So what's missing?
* There is no reference to the number of Democratic Party platforms supporting slavery. There were 6 from 1840-1860.
* There is no reference to the number of Democratic presidents who owned slaves. There were 7 from 1800-1861
* There is no reference to the number of Democratic Party platforms that either supported segregation outright or were silent on the subject. There were 20, from 1868-1948.
* There is no reference to "Jim Crow" as in "Jim Crow laws," nor is there reference to the role Democrats played in creating them. These were the post-Civil War laws passed enthusiastically by Democrats in that pesky 52-year part of the DNC's missing years. These laws segregated public schools, public transportation, restaurants, rest rooms and public places in general (everything from water coolers to beaches). The reason Civil Rights heroine Rosa Parks became famous is that she sat in the front of a "whites only" bus, the "whites only" designation the direct result of Democrats.
* There is no reference to the formation of the Ku Klux Klan, which, according to Columbia University historian Eric Foner became "a military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party." Nor is there reference to University of North Carolina historian Allen Trelease's description of the Klan as the "terrorist arm of the Democratic Party."
* There is no reference to the fact Democrats opposed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution. The Thirteenth banned slavery. The Fourteenth effectively overturned the infamous 1857 Supreme Court Dred Scott decision (made by Democrat pro-slavery Supreme Court justices) by guaranteeing due process and equal protection to former slaves. The Fifteenth gave black Americans the right to vote.
* There is no reference to the fact Democrats opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1866. It was passed by the Republican Congress over the veto of Democratic President Andrew Johnson. The law was designed to provide blacks with the right to own private property, sign contracts, sue and serve as witnesses in a legal proceeding.
* There is no reference to the Democrats' opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1875. It was passed by a Republican Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses Grant. The law prohibited racial discrimination in public places and public accommodations.
* There is no reference to the Democrats' 1904 platform, which devotes a section to "Sectional and Racial Agitation," claiming the GOP's protests against segregation and the denial of voting rights to blacks sought to "revive the dead and hateful race and sectional animosities in any part of our common country," which in turn "means confusion, distraction of business, and the reopening of wounds now happily healed."
* There is no reference to four Democrat platforms, 1908-1920, that are silent on blacks, segregation, lynching, and voting rights as racial problems in the country mount. By contrast the GOP platforms of those years specifically address "Rights of the Negro" (1908), oppose lynchings (in 1912, 1920, 1924, 1928) and, as the New Deal kicks in, speak out about the dangers of making blacks "wards of the state."
* There is no reference to the DNC-sponsored Democrat Convention of 1924, known to history as the "Klanbake." The 103-ballot convention was held in Madison Square Garden. Hundreds of delegates were members of the Ku Klux Klan, the Klan so powerful that a plank condemning Klan violence was defeated outright. To celebrate the Klan staged a rally with 10,000 hooded Klansmen in a field in New Jersey directly across the Hudson from the site of the Convention. Attended by hundreds of cheering Convention delegates, the rally featured burning crosses and calls for violence against African Americans and Catholics.
* There is no reference to the fact that it was Democrats who segregated the federal government of the United States, specifically at the direction of President Woodrow Wilson upon taking office in 1913. There is a reference to the fact that President Harry Truman integrated the military after World War II.
* There is reference to the fact that Democrats created the Federal Reserve Board, passed labor and child welfare laws and created Social Security with Wilson's New Freedom and FDR's New Deal. There is no reference these programs were created as the result of an agreement to ignore segregation and the lynching of blacks. Neither is there a reference to the thousands of local officials, state legislators, state governors, U.S. Congressmen and U.S. Senators who were elected as supporters of slavery and then segregation between 1800 and 1965. Nor is there reference to the deal with the devil that left segregation and lynching as a way of life in return for election support for three post-Civil War Democrat presidents, Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt.
* There is no reference that three-fourths of the opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Bill in the U.S. House came from Democrats, or that 80 percent of the nay vote on the bill in the Senate came from the Democrats. Certainly there is no reference to the fact that the opposition included future Democratic Senate Leader Robert Byrd of West Virginia (a former Klan member) and Tennessee Senator Albert Gore, Sr., father of future Vice President Al Gore.
* Last, but certainly not least, there is no reference to the fact that Birmingham, Alabama Public Safety Commissioner Bull Connor, who infamously unleashed dogs and fire hoses on civil rights protestors, was in fact -- yes indeed -- both a member of the Democratic National Committee and the Ku Klux Klan.
Reading the DNC's official "Party History" of the Democrats and the race issue and civil rights is not unlike reading In Through the Looking Glass: "When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'"

The paragraph above particularly struck a chord with me. I think there is more truth here than most people would buy into, because bottom line it is almost axiomatic that "big shot news anchors" are image driven and in their heart of hearts they are only interested in what will give them the most limelight and emotional attention. We, on the right, should figure out who is approachable in this regard and milk that market. I mean, use the bastards! Why not?
PS -- the McGovern nomination was arguably the nail in the coffin of "traditional" Democrats, the beginning of the hard-left ascendancy which has dominated them since and their virtual commandeering of them since about 2000.
Okay, as much as I hate them, I've got to mention that comparing the current Democratic party, and the pre-1900's party isn't valid. Pretty much anything before Roosevelt wasn't done by the Liberals we know today. Actually, Democrats were conservatives and Republicans were liberals in the 1800's.
That said, the party today does practice racism in the form of telling minorities that they're inferior and need protection in order to compete with others. But this isn't the Democratic party of the Civil War, and claiming such just makes us look bad.
Read a history book Guy. Do some research then come back and say we are wrong.
I have to disagree. Forget about the "conservative" and "liberal" labels. All they do is confuse the issue. What the Democrats stood for with their first president, Andrew Jackson, is what they stand for today: racial hypersensitivity in all its evil forms. Jackson was the guy who shipped the five tribes off on the Trail of Tears. Their offense? They had decided to act like Europeans and build houses and start farms and businesses. By comparison, the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, went to war to end slavery once and for all and finally made all men equal under the law. That's where Republicans stand today, isn't it? Republicans are still seeking equality for all races and still fighting Democrats for it. And look at the KKK. It petered out in the 19th century and then came back ten times as strong in the 20th century, but both times it was an evil, Democrat, anti-black, anti-Republican militia with no compunction about resorting to violence and murder to prevent black people from voting. Where's the change you're claiming?

Once black people were free they wanted to punish them for not wanting to stay in the plantations
Once they realized that they voted and that they garnered sympathy and that it would be a bad look to be so obvious in their hate, they had to find another way to hoard black ppl into a newer kind of plantation while at the same time not seem to be punishing them for not wanting to be slaves in the first place.
Tactics changed, stop scaring them, seem benevolent, take credit for the work of other people (namely republicans, conservatives and christians/jews) and finally give them civil rights then say hey we are going to take care of you and make sure you get restitution open the door of the plantation and hoard them right in. Keep them there by paying them this time as it is worth it to pay them for staying in the plantation.
Any runaways they use the black ppl in the plantation to make the runaways feel small and wrong.
It is all demonic. It is all bad and evil.

This is what drives me insane. All the minorities that line up and behind the dim wits and just vote for them all the time not realizing that its the dim wits who have for decades oppressed them. Its the dim wits that say "Oh you cant make it on your own" so we are going to create this special category for you so you can get a leg up.
It was the dim wits who stood in the way of the civil rights legislation that was passed. So the next time you vote remember who it is that strives for people to be the best that they can be and those that want to just keep you toeing the line and living on the poverty plantation.
Sorry but it's all about basic human nature. We have gone from the point of achieving to receiving. It's too easy to just claim to be a victim of something that happened hundreds of years ago then to change a culture. And promises of utopia to people with no hope, equals hope if you lie enough.
Martin Luther King and prior generations of black people were mostly Republican. Republicans won the civil rights battle for them but Democrats won the public relations battle, taking all the credit for a century's worth of Republican civil rights effort. That's when Democrats learned the most valuable lesson they ever learned: that you don't have to do the right thing, merely seem to be trying to do the right thing.
How about an item or two about the present day racism of the Democratic party? Through hand outs, entitlements, and state supported discrimination like Affirmative Action the liberals, under the guise of compassion ensure that the environment is fertile for minority dependence on entitlements parallel with a system of preferential treatment based on race that does not hold selected groups to the same standards as it does others- ensuring that those who take advantage of programs sold on the premise of evening the score actually exacerbate issues of inequality when those who have gained college admission through artificially boosted SAT scores for example will struggle far more than their classmates- creating a very visible but misleading picture in peoples' minds that minorities are somehow less capable of tackling advanced curriculum.
One does not change the erroneous notions that people have by fostering a situation that only makes those notions appear to be correct... and labeling it as some sort of compassion. It is a strike of evil genius to perpetuate the political preeminence of a faction by creating a situation where certain groups are predisposed to relying on government handouts and having the media propagandize them that their gravy train will only continue if the liberals are kept in power. It falls so seamlessly in line with the class warfare campaign of Treasodent Obama that I'm convinced that it is deliberate... which very much underscores actions that have effectively slowed any economic recovery. Weakening an entire economy and undermining the working class through the assault of regulations and taxation as well as dividing a population along many lines- including racial; pitting them against one another- all for the purpose of a political agenda is the height of selfishness and personifies evil.
