Stupidity on parade: Congresswoman thinks the Dutch held slaves in Brooklyn. In 1898. Please be introduced to Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), a woman capable of something we thought impossible, giving Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) — the bonehead who feared that stationing too many military personnel on Guam might make the island tip over — stiff competition for the title of Dumbest Member of Congress. In this clip Clarke tells Stephen Colbert that the Dutch still held slaves in her Brooklyn district 35 years after the Emancipation Proclamation (not to mention 224 years after those wooden-shoed mofos ceded New York to the English).
And just for old times’ sake, here’s Johnson worrying that Guam would tip over:

I know a lot of Americans cannot place the Civil War in the right half century, but this is sadness on a whole nother magnitude

One thing you never hear about is the role those Dutch played in bringing those slaves over here. All you hear about s the evil slave owner. Look into the history of how they got to the auction block.

That's my point. Nobody wants to talk about that little fact, do they? Slaving was some evil being perpetrated by a lot of people, not just the end consumer.
The sterilized history being taught makes people believe that Thomas Jefferson and his beer drinking buds sailed over to Africa and just talked a bunch of Africans into hopping aboard for a free cruise.
You know...term limits would not even touch this problem - for you just cannot fix stupid. Amazing that someone with this lack of intelligence could actually be elected to office - says something about the voters, huh. If ignorance is bliss Rep.Clarke must be the happiest woman in the world.
You would think the entire progressive left would be happier if that was true. But they are a very angry group of people who are bitter about some people doing better then others. That's why they push to tear them down since they can't build themselves up. Equality through shared misery.
Soon she will claim that she was born in Hawaii on her way to the White House.
Her office is making the excuse that it's a comedy show and she was just joking, but watching the tape is simply embarrassing. She's not joking, and Colbert is actually embarrassed for her.
