HS Band Banned from Playing Hymn, Crowd Sings it Instead: Good news- thanks to the tireless efforts of U.S. District Court Judge Carlton Reeves the Brandon High School Marching Band will no longer be able to carry out their insidious plot to establish a state religion through the nefarious coordination of marching routines and instrumental music. Better news- You may use the 1st Amendment to silence a publicly funded school organization, but you may not use it to silence the people.

As a 15 year band mom, school bands do. Routines to.a variety of music, from clasical to pop. Many of the classicalpieces, especially, have been used for hymns. One year our kids did Aaron Copeland. One of the song was Simple Gifts, an olld Shaker hymn, and now used in the Christian Lord of the Dance. People need to get over themselves, quit looking for something to.be offeded about, and get on. With their lives!
And another stadium full of voters for Trump are delivered.

People who don't want to sing the hymn... remain quiet. The band represents the majority and as long as the majority is not doing anything truly criminal the minority students who do not worship G-D or whatever can just remain silent and wait for the moment to pass or sing their own hymn to themselves. I don't get the issue here. People really need to calm the hell down...
And the DOJ will start identifying schools that need more diversity . And then start sending people from Afghanistan and Syria to make sure they are diverse enough.

If we found a school where children of other faiths were being forced to participate in a prayer to a different god than the one they worship, I’d be right on board with criticizing them. But the idea that you can never be exposed to a different religion is insane.
Unless that other religion is Islam. Then, you can and will be exposed to it, be forced to participate in it, and not be allowed to say anything against it.
Islam is forcing itself upon us in a rather violent way, we are indeed being exposed to it against our wishes. I don't understand the problem here... if this was a Muslim nation it would be EXPECTED that even in the public schools for students to pray to their god or to chant or whatever the hell muslims do. I don't get it.

Maybe they'll claim that free expression is somehow superseded to the right not to be offended . . . which as everybody knows is the bedrock upon which this nation was established.
