• Where in the hell is child protective services? This boy needs to be removed from that home ASAP and placed in proffessional care and counciling. What a crock this is.

• This poor kid is sitting there with his legs crossed, his hands in his lap in fists. If a body language expert were to see that picture, I'm sure they would say he's closing himself off and protecting himself from a percieved threat to himself.

• I have fought in war, I have seen the inhumanities man can do to other men. I am proud of my service to my country and one thing I learned at that young age is you never harm a child in any way, shape or form. These two persons, and I use that term with discust, should be tried and convicted of child abuse and live the rest of their years behind bars.

  Man to man I can be one mean SOB if need be but I have never hurt a child, mentally or physically, and I loath anyone who does.

• Gender Identity disorder USED to be a psychiatirc disorder. It is no longer recognized as such. Personally, I think an 8 year old this confused about sexuality in general, needs massive therapy. The surgery should not be allowed until he is an adult. Hermaphroditism is different. And being raised by women has nothing to do with it. My poor son had a gr-grandma, 2 grandmas, a mom and 2 sisters, and he is seriously heterosexual. I think the child probably has some confusion over wanting to be like one of the moms, or maybe is reacting to the moms' opinions of males, or the opinions of others he has heard. At any rate, he needs to wait, since this is elective surgery. I woud say the same for ANY elective surgery on a child, but particularly one as life changing as this. When he is 21, if he still feels the same, go for it!

• I guess the lesbian on the right with the tie tries to be the man in the relationship and the other lesbian tries to be the woman. I wonder if the adopted boy has ever had any kind of father in his life. A boy needs a father or a father figure in his life to recognize his masculinity. If he doesn't have this the confusion can set in. He's probably only been around women his entire life and so he's confused about his gender. Gender-Identity-Disorder(GID). I'll never forget the time I heard Rush Limbaugh calmly say that the operation in which a female tries to become a male is called an addadictomy. I liked to bust my spleen laughing.

• I find this abhorrent. I don't get shocked by much any more but...man. These people should be locked away for child abuse. And whoever the doctor is that is helping them do this.

• There are not many things that absolutely floor me and cause my jaw to drop to the floor but when I read "San Francisco, right by Berkeley, is one of four cities in the United States with a hospital that has a program for transgender children" I was shocked. I didn't know there were hospitals for transgender children, why would there be? I mean maybe a hospital for hermaphrodites, I could see that, but TRANSGENDER CHILDREN?? Have I lead a very sheltered life or something? I just don't get it, I don't get how this is not abuse.

  • I don't think a kid of 19 is qualified to decide what they will be doing at work every day for the rest of their life -- why on earth would an 8-year old be capable of making a decision to whack his whacker off?

    • As I regularly do when it comes to these stories, I must interject that the pecker is not chopped off. It is sliced lengthwise and flipped inwardly to be made an "innie" instead of an "outie." The process is called "penile inversion."

      If I have disgusted you: good. We have some real Frankensteins out there; sick doctors who cash in on the insanity of misguided people.
