What would it mean to America if there were another Middle Eastern country that could produce oil on the Saudi Arabian scale? We imagine that President Obama would want to fly over immediately and bow to its leader. Until, that is, he found out that country is Isreal.
The Jerusalem Post reveals light in the desert:

.. new technologies, being developed for Israeli shale, seek to separate the oil from the shale rock 300 meters underground …
…The present goal is to produce commercial quantities of shale oil by the end of the decade.
…a unique method for separating oil from shale deep underground, [would change] the entire global oil market. The effect … would be to shift the center of gravity of world oil away from Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf to more stable states…
There’s little President Blowhard and his windy city gang can do. The oil market is world-wide. If one country shuns Israeli oil, another will buy it, forcing prices down.

The Marcellus Shale project has discovered many new oil deposits here in PA, you just don't hear about it in the media...its funny how the amount of oil reserves here in the US is so hidden.
There are huge deposits in Colorado and Utah but as soon as they were found these vast areas of land were declared to be national preserves, protected areas, national parks, all that sort of nonsense, by the Pussies on The Potomac and they are off limits.
No more exploration, no extraction, nothing. Billions of barrels of oil just sitting there, doing no good for anyone.
And now they won't sell it to us since Obama has pissed them off. What a moron.

We need to start becoming self supplying with oil and gas! Screw the rest of the world! If we can produce enough to supply ourselves, the price worldwide will drop back to 1990 prices!
If we turned on the spigots available to the US and built a couple refineries,
I venture a guess that gas at the pump might be around $1.50 a gallon and
a lot of that would be federal and state taxes!!
The only thing standing in our way are the environmental wackos and the gummint..
Refineries are the key! The current ones are working at capacity and having trouble keeping up with demand! We just need the enviro-wackos, and the NIMBY morons to back off and let them be built!
That is it right there. There as not been a new refinery built in this country since WWII. There was a group in AZ trying to start a new one, with the regulations we have now so far it has been impossible. Don't get me wrong more production would be awesome but more refinery capacity and more owners of refineries are the key.
The free market would lower gas prices. Right now the few companies that got set up before the regulations have little incentive to spend the money to increase capacity. You open it up to new people by getting regulations under control, it is basically a license to print money.
This is one thing that drives me nuts when people start in on how much better Clinton was for the economy. It is hard to mess up the economy with a republican congress and 99 cents a gallon gas.

The United States is fully capable of, and desperately needs to produce oil at the Saudi scale. It is simply a matter of giving the government an enema and getting on with it.
The eco-marxists that populate the progressive left & the ObamAA+ EPA, will never allow America to produce our oil & coal anywhere near what we should. This is anti-American at it's core, & so are those who support the bans & restrictions.
