It wasn’t just redistricting that gave Republicans their House majority. Michael Barone notes Democrat voters tend to be clustered in urban areas while GOP voters are more evenly distributed. If the US were divided into 50 equal population states as illustrated by this Electoral Reform Map, Romney would’ve won 58% of the electoral votes. Yeah, we know, it ain’t really a “reform” if it doesn’t help the Demoturds gain power.

I've been reading Thomas Sawyer's book about dividing the country into Red and Blue regions. The Two State Solution for America. It makes a lot of sense, giving each side what it truly wants, without a lot of bickering back and forth. I think it would work just fine. But the Dems would never go for it. For the reasons I just gave.

Problem is, for them, they'll have to admit to that. And they can't do that.
I recall a Reader's Digest article some time ago where some dingdong was floating a notion to rearrange the states and reduce the number of them to 35 or something. Slightly beside the point, what such schemes fail to appreciate is that each state is more than a set of lines drawn on a map, each state has not only its own unique laws, but its own law -- the Anglo-Saxon body of common law by which court decisions are as much a part of law as what the legislature passes. Before anybody starts hollering about "judge-made law," that's exactly what US law has ALWAYS been, by the way, in distinction to European-style "civil law" (with the exception of Louisiana.)
A lot of people would be surprised at how much of our law is not codified in statute books, or was established at common law long before any legislature put a stamp on it. Just for example, the Supreme Court being the final arbiter of the Constitution, and the standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt" for criminal conviction. That's why law schools teach out of case books -- compilations of court decision -- rather than lists of "book" statutes.
Anyway, point being, trying to rearrange the states would be a legal nightmare, as a single "New England" state would struggle with reconciling the restrictive firearms laws of Mass., Conn, and RI with the less restrictive laws of NH, Maine, and the nonexistent gun laws of Vermont. And that's just one fairly narrow (though important) topic! Wait'll you get into community property, and water/mineral rights in property out West . . .
I think the worst mistake we make with drawing up districts is something the Democrats insist upon: all-black districts. Instead of taking a city and treating it like a pie, cutting it into wedge shaped pieces that would each have some inner city and some suburb, we draw neat little circles around the inner city and create districts that elect people like Barbara Boxer and Charlie Rangel and a good percentage of the rest of the Congressional Black Caucus - in other words, idiots and ne'er-do-wells who never lose an election. If they represented pie-pieces they would have to behave honestly and learn to appeal to some middle-class and white voters, too. This would be a better country without those perennially-re-elected nincompoops from the inner cities.
AKA they really don't want any integration unless it serves their purposes. As far as voting is concerned segregation is just fine.
However, if we do as the Demturds want, there would be many fewer Demturds in congress.

With each " State " having 6,175,000 people , and areas like " Chicago , Gary or Philadelphia , or any other morally challenged area " each miraculously about to find say 11,175,000 voters to vote , the madness will never end .
If you look at a breakdown county by county most of them across the country are red. The problem is the vast majority of liberals live along the coastal areas in the big cities.
Red counties in each state are where the working people live. Those colored blue are where government employees, union members, illegal aliens and moochers live.
If LA and SF were removed from CA I believe it would be a red state.
Add Cleveland and to a lesser extent Columbus in Oiho to the list.
That wouldn't surprise me. Illinois (where I live) would be a very Republican state if Chicago were removed. People from outside the Chicago metro area actually hate Chicago because it always makes the state go Democratic.
Remove Miami and Palm Beach from Florida and it would be a red not a swing state.

So, when I leave, and tell people where I came from, and it's NOT SF or LA, please don't blame me for California's downfall, or expect me to import it to your state. When I go to Texas, I will bring strong Libertarian principles with me.
This is reassuring; it gives me more hope for the future of this country.
