No, this fellow’s gripes are that the metals to make batteries will be scarcer than fossil fuels in the coming years, and that the constant charging-recharing wears the electronics out quicker. Nature cannot be fooled but foolishness is natural.

I cannot believe how stupid these tree hugging green energy freaks are.
Where do they think the electricity to charge the batteries in their little car comes from? It comes from coal, gas fired and nuclear generating plants! The more little shoeboxes on tires on the road, the more electricity needed to charge the batteries, which means we need to build more coal, gas fired or nuclear power plants. That kind of shoots holes in their "conserving energy and saving the planet" theory doesn't it.
Another little thing these fools do not understand, what is a battery made of? Your common car battery is made of plastic, which comes from oil refining residues. In that plastic box is lead plates, the lead has to be mined then refined for commerical use. The sulfuric acid in those batteries has to be made somewhere and all these manufacturers require electricity to operate.
Where does that electricity come from? Coal, gas fired and nuclear power plants. Since these fools are so against building new power plants where do they think the electricity to build their little cars, the batteries it takes to run them, the electricity to keep them charged, is going to come from? I got a clue for you here, it ain't going to happen because wind and solar can't keep up with the demand now much less when enough of these electric cars are on the road.
This little fact alone shoots down the fact that these "green energy" people are full of crap and have no idea about reality. What they want to do will do nothing for the environment so they should just shut up, go home, turn up the airconditioner, crank up the T.V. and cable, then listen to more of the bullshit the Lame Stream Media puts out every night.
I'm thinking that the average plug-in car will be charged at night, when the owner is at home. Which is, of course, when all the solar plants go offline.
I'd like to see a similar analysis about wind energy and solar energy farms. What is the net loss of BTUs to bring down the concentration of energy to "clean" levels?
If something is a good idea, the government doesn't have to subsidize it.

I bought a lithium battery for an RC model for $30. It will run a small electric motor for about 20 minutes. I'm trying to imagine the cost when you scale that up to full size applications.
