Jimmy Carter endorses Romney for GOP nomination

• He is right, Romney will do an even better job than Jimmy ever did, he might be even more brilliant than Obama himself.

• Funny, I see it the opposite way. I think Carter fears Romney more and his endorsement is a way of marginalizing Romney in the eyes of GOP primary voters. Perry's problems with illegals getting college tuition breaks and the mandatory vaccine are, IMO, more damaging than Masscare because Romney can hide behind the 10th Amendment. Secondly, SCOTUS will hopefully have struck down Obamcare by November 2012.

  • The illegal thing is a negative, but both parties are guilty of not dealing with it. The vaccine did have an opt out choice for all parents. Healthcare is a Dem only issue and Americans want it gone. Romney can't use it as a weapon since he's supported it when he was in charge of Mass. Don't count on scotus to have ruled on anything before the elections. If they did shoot it down, it could be used against Romney. BTW- I don't love Perry, I just feel he is the most electable. We have to remove the O, then fix the Republican party

    • All well said, MGAP. I"m not thrilled with either but I want the guy that can get elected and knock BHO out nominated. Period. I think Romney is doing better as a campaigner at this point but regardless of who gets the nomination, he (or she) will have my 1000% percent support. The Tea Party and other conservatives can and will fix the GOP. I totally agree with you on that point.

      • Well the thing is that I am sure we want more than just a campaigner in chief. We have one in Obama and he is not a good President. (To say the very least)

• It is true this is just his way of saying that Perry is a bigger danger to Mr. O. I really dont know how I feel about Perry, but at this point in time I think that a feral dog will do a better job at governing that most of these fools.

• I agree with everyone. He wants Romney, not Perry to run against his boy. I'm guessing if we could hear pillow talk between the O and her thighness, they are hoping it's Romney too. The healthcare bill is a huge campaign platform for the Republicans, probably enough to defeat Oblama on it's own. Romney can't use it.

• If that endorsement isn't the death knell for Romney, he will probably win the nomination. :-(

• Please put Mr Peanut back in the bottle, or in a nursing home.

• I think Mr. Peanut would like to see Romney win a nomination. He may be secretly thinking "O" will beat him. Something in the air smells Jimmma.

• I think Carter carved his stupidity in stone when he stated that he didn't think anyone could beat Obama next year.

  • I'm sick of looking at him, he seems to turn up everywhere I look like a bad check or something. I could swear I saw his face on my cereal box the other day. He's on TV almost as much as Obama.

• " I would be very pleased to see him win the Republican nomination." Notice Alfred E. Carter doesn't say he'd like to see Romney as president. Does he think Romney is the most-beatable R? That's how I read these tea-leaves.

  I don't think that should be taken as the kiss of death for Romney as far as his positions go (whatever they are), just a warning on his vulnerability. But yeah, he's still about my last choice in the field.

  Well, Bachmann might have hit bottom after her truly abysmal remarks directed at Perry, but which managed to damn the whole concept of mandatory government inoculation programs. It may not be in the four corners of the Constitution, but I doubt even DOCTOR Paul would condemn the eradication of smallpox and polio on such specious technical criteria.
