• Maybe she should have been counseled by Olivia and gotten an abortion. :-(

• I bet oral sex is highly regarded among women in that part of the world. The cave people there will never change and it seems to get stupider by the day. But Americans are infidels.

• Isn't there an unofficial honor code among at least some American prisoners that you don't harm women and children, the weak? These lowlife fanatics kill their own daughters who have just given birth to their grandchildren while they are still in the hospital. So-called honor killings seem to be quite a loophole allowing men to get away with cold-blooded murder. There seems to be no sense of chivalry among some Muslim men.

• This news story is a little lacking in details. Questions: Was she raped? Who is the Father of these babies? Was she living by herself? Was she not living with her parents or else she didn't have any communication with them? How is it possible that he didn't know her condition when his daughter must have been huge after carrying two babies for 9 months? Why didn't he murder her beforehand (if he knew that she was pregnant)? How was she able to keep her pregnancy/sexual life hidden? He went in to know her condition? Did he thought she got sick or he went to make sure she had the babies first and then murder her? Who is taking care of these babies now? Is it possible that she was secretly married to someone that her parents wouldn't have approved off? When exactly are women considered adults and able to make their own decisions for their own lives...? After all the lady was 24 years old. What happened to her husband? How did he die? Wasn't she allowed to re-marry?

  I think that there is so much here to explore. It doesn't make any sense what happened. Obviously if at 24 year old woman, who was married and is a widow is still liable to her Father for her decisions, that society is not a society for me.

  Get real! These "honor killings" are cold blooded, pre-meditated murders committed by animals! Honor my ass!

  • Yeah, I tired to make sense out of these 2 side-by-side statements: 1.) Murder is punishable by death in Jordan but in so-called "honour killings" courts can commute or reduce sentences, particularly if the victim's family asks for leniency. 2.) Between 15 and 20 women died in such murders each year in the Arab kingdom, despite government efforts to curb such crimes.

    How do you simultaneously "allow leniency" and "take efforts to stop them"? Sounds like someone's putting laws on paper that they don't intend to follow so they can look a little better in the international community.
