• Freedom is an overrated concept to people like this. What this broad doesn't get is that when things cost too much, it's almost always gov't actions that are to blame.

  • I like the counter-intuitive idea that gouging is good. It signals a shortage and if the government stays out of it, new suppliers rush into the market and price equilibrium is restored.

    • I agree. I have little problem with "gouging", as long as nobody is dying because of it. In times of emergency if prices are kept artificially low the end result is scarce resources being completely consumed before they can be replaced and possibly without there being enough capital in the producers coffers to expand production. And that is when things get really terrible.

      • So we needed Obamacare why? Because health insurance was too expensive? Now people will have insurance & will have to wait for care, if they can get it now that gov't is involved.

        • I guess we needed Obamacare because if health care costs were allowed to get too low nobody would appreciate not being sick.

• After reading the entire article, she doesn't suggest anywhere that we need to increase the cost of of food at all. She merely states that most food is so cheap that there is a disconnect from the farming process. She uses the low cost of milk in the UK as an example. The waste happens at my house. The wife makes the kids breakfast and pours a full glass of milk for each kid. The remaining half glass of milk goes down the drain after they eat. I suggest pouring a half glass and let them get more if they want it. I'm told that I can get up and get the kids off to school if i don't like the way she does things.We waste a crapton of food at my house and it is a sin. As a nation I think food is wasted on a scale that we should all be ashamed of. Raising the cost of it won't change that and i missed the part it in the article that suggests we do so.

  I'm not giving this woman a pass, the rest of the story does point out that she is in fact a left wing anti-family atheist eco nut!

    I don't know who this b*tch is, but she is crazy. Nothing about her I like at all. If everyone felt the same way she does, within 150 years all of humanity will be gone if that. She is seriously out there.

  • Sounds like we're married to the same woman, with different habits. Mine has a habit of opening the sliding door to the patio, walking either in or out, and leaving the door open, saying that she is coming back through it in a minute, then takes 15 minutes to get back. If I close the door, she has a fit. Then she complains about the electric bill, telling me it's my fault because I'm on the computer and watching TV at the same time.
    Geez, some women are natural born Democrats!

    • Mine doesn't care about the electric bill because she never sees or pays it. She's a true democrat!

      • I have mine pay the bills so she can see what is being spent where.

  • I agree, we have a disconnect with the way most things come to us these days. Food comes from the store, gas comes from the gas station, electric comes from little holes in the wall. We've lost sight of how those things are really produced and how fragile the supply chain ultimately is. Cost has nothing to do with it - if costs increase, you'd get a bunch of Leftists on MessNBC screaming about how "Big Food, Big Oil and Big Electric" are ripping us off.

    • I think it's a pretty old cliche` at this point to observe that any major city is about three weeks away from utter barbarism at any given moment. An observation on the food supply chain, that is.

• Tons of food are wasted yearly by restaurants being FORCED to throw out food instead of giving it to the needy, by leftists in government who want ALL freebies to come from government alone, creating dependence.

• I don't value liberals enough because they have not assumed room temperature in great enough numbers....
