LA bans plastic bags

New York bans big soda. LA bans plastic bags. It seems that instead of the arms race the 21st century has a stupid race.

  • Just go to PJTV.com then find: Bill Whittle, Scott Ott, Steve Green, Zonation, Andrew Klavan there's a ton of theese guys on that site both in video and print. It's a great place to spend some time.

  • I wonder how many people will lose disposable plastic bag manufacturing jobs? And when the bags come back - and they will - will they be made in China, then imported?

  • We are easing into the ban on plastic bags within the city limits where I live. People have been put 'on notice'. Personally, I don't have a problem with it however this guy does make a point about how people do use those bags for alternative purposes. I know in my house we sometimes use grocery bags as small trash can liners etc. Thing is, we don't use them that much. I put way more bags in the recycle bin than I use (two a week, maybe). You know, why not put some this stuff on these mega million retailers? Why don't grocery stores offer a discount or coupon to customers who return their bags? The store can then recycle those bags and get credit. When I was a kid, when we wanted money for the ice cream truck, we would scrounge the neighborhood for bottles and of course we'd find lots. We then would take them to the local icehouse who would give us a dime for each bottle. I just think we should put more burden on the money makers as opposed to the working class.

    • Putting the burden on "mega million retailers" is a liberal feel-good idea but a waste of time since any extra cost of doing business will be passed on to the consumers.

    • I'm all for putting more of a "burden" on the "money makers" Starting with the people that literally make the money. That is to say the Federal Reserve at the behest of the government. We should burden them with restrictions on making this money so that they don't rob the value of those dollars -amassed by the working class- by creating money out of nothing every time it is necessary for them to pay off cronies or buy votes.

          • I know exactly what you mean. It seems we have a bumper crop of new proggy dungkopfs to deal with lately. I'm completely fed up with their idiocy.

    • Some of the stores here in New Jerkey do have bins for reusing plastic grocery bags. Few are returned because, as he says, people use them for so many other things. We have cats AND a dog so we make use of them constantly.

      • No pets here, but we use them as garbage bags each day. Even at just one or two small ones a day - we run low on them quite often.

    • Zoe kick's ass. I've heard him interviewed on Quinn & Rose about a month ago. He is great, & he needs to be bigger then he is now, much bigger.

      • I saw one of this guys videos a couple weeks ago and once I went to youtube to view it I ended up watching 6 or 7 more that he had there. Also, type in Andrew Klavan--he's very good too.

        • I like this guy. He projects the courage our milquetoast pols lack to call out this foolishness directly. If idiotic liberal concepts like AGW and curly light bulbs, etc, were systematically ridiculed this way it would certainly be much less popular, and really hard to push via propaganda as the compliant media and control-freak pols do now.

  • I guess the libs of LA are too lazy to take the bags back to the store to be recycled if you can't find a way to reuse the bags for something else.
