Cory Booker Tweeted, “half of all students in America are living in poverty” which is so wildly untrue even someone only vaguely aware of the actual state of America wouldn’t believe it. That's not a problem with the electoral college, it's a function of corruption being tolerated in the local and state gatherings.
"Something is wrong with our democracy." Yeah - it ain't one and never has been one. It used to be a representative Republic, but it ain't that any more, either. It's been broke for a long time. One of the problems is that people have been conned into thinking it is supposed to be a democracy - hence the 17th Amendment and the outrageous focus on the popular vote for President and the attack on the Electoral College.
My problem with the electoral college is the left has stacked the deck in their favor, and I don't know if it is possible to fix that.

100% agree especially about the direct election of senators. That may be the most destructive element to our republican form of government. We are now a Euro-style social democracy and quickly sliding to full on fascism. According to Hayek we are well on the road to serfdom.
I think it's clear the caliber of people we're getting in the Senate with direct elections is dismal. At least before, the people in the Senate could be easily replaced if they went against their own state's best interests - now the states as political entities have no representation in Washington. That's why we're seeing the war between states and feds right now.
Hard to believe anybody could have elected a bigger moron then this guy.

Actually, I did. Well, maybe not engineers. Highway, bridge, dam, and airport inspectors with engineering degrees. Most of them weren't all that bright, though.
I was playing with my radio scanner last night, and was fondly remembering when I was working on highway jobs, with my company contracted to CalTrans. I scouted around and found the frequencies for the inspectors, and listened in on them. They never did figure out how I stayed one step ahead of them all the time.
