I had a feeling it would get the better response.
Nearly all the dictators and strongmen of the 20th century used "Forward!" as one of their slogans. They all wanted to believe that they were in the vanguard of human progress. But it was just the highway to economic and personal ruin. Lenin, Stalin Hitler, Mussolini and Mao Zedong all had great visions of triumph that were nightmares for the ordinary citizen.
In this context "Forward" actually means "Back to the Past". A past that never worked and never could work. A past of economic stagnation, social upheaval,
and no hope. We already owe $15 trillion (and growing), my children and grandchildren will be left to pick up the pieces of a wrecked economy.
That's what they have to look "Forward" to.
